They used $30M in their calculations, so I don't think so.

They also included the $5M for a buyout of his last contract. When the details of his new deal come out, it'll be interesting to see if they structured it as an extension. If so, they may have baked that $5M into the contract.

Keep in mind if Busch goes back to AAA and if Counsell goes with both Smith and Cooper at 1st that'll be an additional 5 or 6 mil ?

I've noticed when some of the national reporters wrote about the Cubs signing Dom Smith and also later when they announced Garrett Cooper, they used a very descriptive term. They used the adjective "slugger" firstbaseman. 

Do sluggers average a dozen hrs or less per season across their careers?
