not to be rude or waste bandwidth or anything but I asked what VORP was and I've heard it mentioned alot so I'm guessing my post was accidently missed. I mean Tim is one of the few who is always nice to me so I figure at least he would have answered if he saw it.

For anyone who spent some time charting out possibilities (not me!)

all I did was make sure I dodn't have more than 5 going to a team. and most of them were just random so I'm surprised I didn't have to cahnge any.

Isn't it suprising? Maybe your alliance friends helped you figure it out.

Isn't that what alliances are for?

Why do you have an alliance?

Many reasons...I'm just confused on what the alliance friends helped him figure out.

Well, an alliance is an association to to further the common interests of the members.

I assumed that someone who enters a contest is interested in winning it. If someone is in an alliance, it should be in the common interest of the alliance for an alliance member to win it.

He said he was "surprised I didn't have to cahnge any [FA choices]." I said that perhaps his alliance friends helped him figure out the FA choices, since that would further the common interest of the alliance.

That's my explanation for what I said. You said that there are "many reasons" to have an alliance. I'm curious as to what those reasons are.

Sorry. I saw the request and intended to respond, but got sidetracked by real life. I promise it will happen again (as much as I'd like to avoid it), so I apologize for any future incidents, as well. :D

I can assure you the alliance has nothing to do with contests (I want to win them both and not share the prize). It's just a few guys who share a common bond, that's all. We love the Cubbies! :D

Now that the deadline has passed, any chance of revealing all the submitted entries to everyone as opposed to just those who entered?

Sure, I'm not sure why people care about a free contest they didn't enter, though. :D

I was going to, but forgot. Anyway, I'm intrigued as to where people think everyone will end up.

D'oh! I forgot I put that validation in there so people couldn't check what other people had put before they made their submissions. I removed the validation and you should be able to check the entries now.

The scoreboard on the contest has been updated to reflect the policy of only rewarding points for entries submitted for a particular player before he signs. Therefore, Bukie is now in the lead by 0.1 ahead of Serena and AlamoCub.

I want to thank everyone who took the time to submit an entry to this contest! Good luck to you all!

For those of you who didn't...Why the heck didn't you? Too much trouble to pick from a list 54 times? No interest? Didn't want your predictions on record?

:D Wimps! :D

Okay, Kris Benson signing with the Mets today drops Serena a bit off the pace. Bukie maintains his slim edge on AlamoCub by 0.1 points, but they've opened up a good 20 point edge on everyone else.

I've also made a few enhancements to the results page.

- I now list the players guessed correctly for each entry on the scoreboard.

- For players that have signed, I change the color of the entries in the other tables to easily see where people guessed correctly and incorrectly.

You forgot to add in Percival's signing with Detroit.

Thanks! It only made a difference to one person, but it got him off the schneid.

How is this being scored exactly?? :-k:

VORP is Value Over Replacement Production. It is a number that represents the theoretical number of runs that a player provides over a replacement player at the primary position of a given player. I chose it so that I could weight the findings. I did this so that guessing where Beltran and Beltre wind up is more important than guessing where Hidalgo or Millwood end up.

One of the lesser known facts of the contest that I hadn't thought of until now is that there's actually a player with negative VORP (Derek Lowe). Which means that if you correctly guess Lowe's destination, it will actually hurt you in the contest. Interesting wrinkle. If I'da thought of that in advance, I would have picked him to end up in Milwaukee or some other team that would never spend good money on a free agent pitcher.
