Assad seemed likely to go down for Hughes in a few days so I guess they took advantage here since after yesterday Assad's spent for the next few days anyway.  Wonder if Nelly is really only up for 2-3 days or if there's going to be more additional machinations once Hughes and Seiya are back to keep Nelly up

I might've sent down Rucker instead of Assad, but after yesterday's performance plus pitch count Assad was always going to be vulnerable(plus the org seems to like Rucker).

 

The Torrens thing continues to be the most baffling thing I've seen from the front office in ages though.  Even if you're completely certain he's gonna hit like a borderline DH, you still need 8 fielders and you're using 5 of 13 position players on C/1B/DH.  Unless another one of those 5 leaves the 26 man this week, he can't survive the activation of Suzuki and Hughes.  It's just completely nonsensical.

Someone, maybe it was you, convinced me Torrens is good as an average hitting option for a catcher, which I still wasn't sold on but whatever.  But then seeing him in the lineup with Barnhart or Gomes also in the game was dumbfounding.   He's not a good hitter, he's an adequate hitter for a catcher on a team that has 2 weaker hitting catchers.
