I think so. And since Reyes has looked pretty good, it probably makes it less likely they sign a bat only 1B to push Mervis to DH.

Yeah I think between Mervis and Wisdom you consider 1B covered but not necessarily filled. The team needs to add an infielder of some kind, so if the opportunity comes up to add a 1B you don't say no. But at the same time with limited resources and the expected supply of 1Bs on the market it seems really unlikely to come together.

 

At most I'd expect they add a guy elsewhere who could also cover 1B if need be, like Joey Gallo or Cody Bellinger.

I just don't want some Ortega-type taking away PAs from Mervis, and I'd rather see $ spent on the rotation than on Josh Bell if we have a solid chance getting 80% of his production from within. I like the idea of an OF/1B to provide some insurance, though.
