Taking over a dynasty team mid season. Never played dynasty before. Don’t want to do something silly.

Record is 1-7

QBs-Tua Lance

RBs-K. Herbert only useable one I have

WRs-Chase AJ Brown Bateman then a bunch of nobodies(and Ruggs…)

TE-Hockenson and Trautman

2022 and 2023 firsts early and late. 1 pick in rounds 2-5 in 22/23 1-5 24-26.

Any idea how to attack??

Build around Lance and Chase. Maybe Hockenson, but I subscribe to that TEs aren't that big a deal unless you get one that gives you WR value (Kelce, healthy Kittle, Waller like a #3 WR). So, if someone is TE needy, I'd definitely see if they'd give something of solid value for Hock.

AJ Brown is your big trade piece. I'd get all the picks/players (RB/QB) you can get for him. Herbert is an interesting sell high candidate with Montgomery due back soon, but you can also keep him if you feel Herbert can be the Hunt to Monty's Chubb.

I said build around Lance at QB, but don't shy away from getting another QB and put all your eggs in the Lance basket. He may start late in the year and then you can have a side-by-side comparison to decide who leads your team in the future.

**** this is assuming 1 QB, PPR league****

How many do you get to/have to keep?

Dynasty... so I’m assuming all.

RBs are “easy” to find assuming you don’t have super big rosters with a lot of bench spots. They also break down and turn over much quicker. So just build around your young QBs, Brown, Chase, and Bateman. I agree trading Hock might be worth exploring as TEs don’t do much for you unless they are Kelce-level. Maybe the owner of Javonte Williams is annoyed with his limited role. Or maybe a Dobbins/Akers owner is in contention and wants to trade them for immediate help. You CAN build around young productive stud WRs in dynasty leagues. That’s actually my preferred route. You’ll have a top pick and can draft a day one starting RB to plop into your RB1 spot. Then just have to keep on the waiver wire for another RB or 3. Herbert could take over the starting role in 2023 for you.

It’s definitely not the worst situation to be in. Look to see what you can get for Brown and Hock and go from there. Also, anytime you can trade a current round 2 pick, for a future first round pick, do it. 2nd round bust rate is really high but people always fall in love with a guy they HAVE to get. Take advantage and get a first rounder in the following years draft, which has a much higher probability of working out. Dont overrate QBs in a 1QB league.
