Keegan Thompson got the start in the AZL in his first rehab appearance. He only had one start in AA before going on the DL. 2 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 3 K.

Gallardo: 3 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 3 K

From my quick perusal of the play logs it also looks like 8 of 13 balls in play were on the ground (62%)

Marquez hit 102 on the stadium gun again last night. Ho hum.

The 20th could be Gallardo's last outing of the season....17 YO will walk into that outing with a 4.28 ERA/4.61 RA9 in a league where the average is 4.36/5.44, has 3 PAs against a hitter younger than him, his 3% HR/FB is strong, and a 12:3 K/BB in his last 5 outings (14.2 IP). He probably got capped at 3 IP per start because because, failed to reach it 3 times in ten outings so far including just once in the past 5 when he went 2.2. At probably 30 IP Gallardo wouldn't be so far behind guys who will compete for and/or hold SB starting jobs like Kohl Franklin and Michael McAvene, on pace for 40-45 IP this year

Quietly an impressive debut for the 17 year old. Would imagine they take their time with him a little and assign him to Eugene next year, but I suppose it depends on how aggressive they are with promoting some of the 2019 Eugene SPs straight to Myrtle Beach. Quite a few guys need to be given legit shots at cracking a rotation.

Rumor has it he gave up a run last night.

Shees, I knew has was a flash in the pan. Da Cubs ain't got no pitching prospects.

Gallardo's best chance at getting meaningful innings in the MWL would be as a call up around June 1 from Extended Spring Training due to promotion/injury in South Bend. I imagine the Cubs will do everything they can to keep him away from the MWL in April.
