As great as it was to win today, 4 runs in 2 games against the garbage Pirates who started 2 guys with ERAs in the mid-4’s. I really cannot come up with a reasonable explanation why the Cubs go on the road and immediately lose the ability to hit

It’s still nice to pull out a game like that when one function of the team doesn’t perform great. Baseball is still gonna baseball from time to time of facing horsefeathers pitching and having horsefeathers results.

But at the same time it’s not really a thing. They aren’t bad “because they’re on the road.” Javy is the only guy with crazy splits. It would be interesting to see how many Almora and Descalso games were home vs road. They may be dragging the overall numbers down.

The real issue has been the pitching at home vs on the road, so it's encouraging to see the starters step up.
