I didn’t realize Barilyn Marquez was posting such mediocre numbers. Dammit, Theo!

He had that one game where he walked 7 which have thrown some numbers out of whack in his 5 game sample size, but I'm not displeased. The HRs probably don't sit well with you. He's definitely struggled with the long ball early on.

Yeah, I don't think mediocre is an accurate adjective... 30Ks in 20IP is exciting and his ERA is solid.

He does need work on other stuff, like control and HRs... I think that's just gonna be the process for him this year.

Looks like the same dude he has been - can get Ks but isn’t particularly good at anything else

Well, he is getting ground outs at a 55% clip in his small 2019 sample. The year before he got em 52.4% of the time. That pretty good. The walk rate this season is way off from his previous seasons mostly due to that one game, so hopefully that evens out. Previous two seasons he walked guys at a 6-7% clip. That's a pretty good rate. Batters are hitting .222 against him this year and .255 last year with higher than average BABIPs. That's not great but it was average last year and above average so far this season.

I wouldn't say he's been dominant in any phase, but over the course of his career thus far, the numbers show he's been above average at not allowing earned runs, getting Ks, getting outs on the ground and not walking people and slightly above average at not allowing hits. To me that's the basic gist of what a pitcher is supposed to be.

What are you seeing? (Looking to learn something here, not sarcastic.)

He’s also a 19/20 year old lefty who throws horsefeathering upper 90s and has hit triple digits

I'm bored...Here's some Cubs prospects under 20 we will (hopefully) be hearing about more often. I'm not going to list every teenager in the system here, anyone can do that, but rather guys I think are possibly a cut above and represent the best long term talent in the system under 20:

Bryan Hudson LHP (19) - Like Perlaza, he is not praised as effusively as the others here for his intangible traits. Like Perlaza, he still offers some relatively rare traits and characteristics as a player. Offers a huge frame, a big curveball, a more coordinated delivery than you'd expect...Potentially very similar stuff to Sean Marshall when it's all said and done. If he develops a mean streak and picks up some more velocity, there's potential for him to be a strikeout artist of sorts.

"... a strikeout artist of sorts."

His SO/9 for his career is 6.2. The dude has 224 K's in 326 IP. Not great bob.gif

Let's not even talk about his career ERA or how crappy his stuff is lol. He'll probably be released at the end of the season. It's coming...

Wow, a great report on LHP Bryan Hudson from Tom there. Why do so many people here even bother talking prospects and stuff with this guy?

It's not weaksauce trolling; I'm exposing all the dumb posts and scouting reports and things you've said over the years. Seriously, you've written SO many posts that are wrong about prospects here. Not to mention your views on draft prospects and the crappy mock draft you put out (that you felt compelled to share after I wrote one, which is kinda weird).

Don't make bold proclamations and statements about prospects, especially before they've done anything in the minors like in LHP Bryan Hudson's case. I brought that up because you were talking about another pitching prospect in LHP Brailyn Marquez and posters here were disputing your take. The reports on Marquez are pretty good and I'm going to ask a scout about what he thinks when I get the chance. He's an impressive pitching prospect and arguably the best one in our system.
