SSS but I have a hunch that Willy is going to be giving everything maximum effort this year and he is gonna pop off all season.

i don't think not giving maximum effort has ever been a problem for willy

He did do the hesitation move at least once (abbreviated) with a runner on and nearly fell over but did throw a strike still.

Oh I've never doubted that Willy goes 100% on nearly every play, I meant that I think we're going to see a more mentally dialed in Contreras this season.

I'll say this is all 100% speculation of course.

We all know what he has the capacity to be, he's already shown it, an all-star MLB catcher. He came up from being a relative no name prospect and lit the world on fire through what I presume to have been really hard work and dedication to his craft.

He finished his ascendancy and made the all-star team last year and I can't say for sure, but I could definitely understand if the guy felt kind of validated and maybe took the foot off the throttle just a tad, or maybe lost a bit of focus would be a better phrase to explain my conjecture. Combine that with the tremendous workload he was given last season and voila, you get his subpar 2nd half of 2018.

All I'm saying is I think Contreras knows how to right his own ship and he strikes me as a guy who really takes his results to heart. So I anticipate seeing him really locked in for the 2019 campaign. Never a doubt about the guy's hustle, he is one of my favorite guys to root for.

Sounds like Q is having a nice game today, got at least 1K on a change up. We also got Billy Hamilton to hit in to a double play for the first time ever, the season is already a success.

Almora is also leading off vs a RHP and is 0-2 with two ground outs to SS on 2 pitches, so he’s ready for the season.

I honestly thought we were trading him in the offseason. Guess his value was too low and teams were offering nothing for Almora. He really REALLY should not hit leadoff and I'm hoping Maddon learned something from last season (probably didn't).

Q with 3IP 0R 1H 1BB 2K (at least 1 K was on the change and he threw it often). Man it would be so awesome if we got 3.5-4+ win Q and Yu this year along with regular Hendricks, Lester and Hamels could just go be ~4 era dudes then. Cishek and Brach with scoreless innings as well, Strop a little rocky in his first game this spring. Edited by Cubswin11

Is the AtBat app accurate for games like this (spring training, no tv)

Because if it is, this is Chatwoods outing so far -

1st pitch out

1st pitch out

3 pitch strike out

1st pitch out

1st pitch base hit

1st pitch base hit

1st pitch double play

I haven't been following along on this game, so I just went back and it looks like every in play ball is 1st pitch, all walks are 4 pitches and all strike outs are 3 pitches, so I'm going to say not accurate
