With Hader and Knebel looming, would've been a great time to PH for Heyward.

i'm in full meatball mode right now, but this season has really made me think that joe maddon is just your run of the mill idiot manager

He will make sure we dress funny for our next road trip.

Seriously though...Heyward cannot play while the offense continues to struggle. I don't care if you have to play Alex Avila in RF

Also why not have Contreras bat there? Can someone wake Joe up and remind him we are about to blow 60% of our division lead to 2 teams in 3 days

Not sure Heyward deserves to be included with Báez, Bryant and Rizzo.

Do the Cubs hate Duke?

god hates duke for vaunting the cubs all season while simultaneously pretending the brewers were vaunted

Yeah, Duker is looking rough on this one right now. Because with 19 games left, we are two games ahead of them. Which means either they aren't the garbage team he has stressed all year that they are, or we aren't quite as #wearegood as he thinks.

That said, let's hope the Cubs win the division and his ultimate prediction will still shine through.

It's looking rougher for the guy who has been saying since May that the Brewers were going to win the division, considering they still trail the Cubs.

It doesn't look quite as ridiculous as the vaunted posters on here thought.

Call me nuts but I have a weird feeling the Cubs put together one of those out of nowhere late inning rallies to win it.

The feeling probably comes from being unable to believe or accept that the Cubs get swept this weekend

Joe Maddon is going to be startled awake just before the Cousin Eddie plummets from an overpass any second now.

What in God's name happened to this offense?

As pointed out on Tuesday, the pitchers they were going to face for five straight days were pretty talented.

Whew, good thing if they get through this they don't to worry about anything like that going forward!

I don't know what to tell you. I've had numerous discussions with you about this. The Brewers do suck. They are a .500ish team that played above their heads for half a season. The Cubs played well below their potential for half a season. We trailed by 5.5 games at the break. When it got to that point, I conceded that it was going to be a tight race. How could it not be, if we had to make up 5.5 games with only a few months left?

Things haven't gone well for us. And we let the Brewers and the Cardinals hang around for far too long, despite them being inferior opponents. Not much we can do to change that now.

They are still underperforming despite that. I mean yesterday they were being blown out after the 3rd inning and in a spot where pitchers are bound to give up some runs because they are pitching to contact and trying to get outs and the Cubs only got a HR on a pitch Schwarber was jammed on and whatever happened in the 9th because I wasn't watching.

who gives a horsefeathers about the brewers, blowing a 7 game lead to the cardinals in september is going to make me foirget all about the world series for a while

The Cubs have been in first place for like 50 days. They easily had enough time if the second half Brewers are total garbage to pull away. Instead, they are two games ahead.

Is it a sin to rather have the Cardinals make it over the VB's?
