Candelario will be dealt. Happ likely becomes our new Zobrist soon enough, or is dealt himself. Caratini gets dealt, IMO. My guess is we'll want a vet backup C.

 

12 position players next year......WC, Rizzo, KB, Javy, Addy, Almora, Heyward, Schwarber, Zobrist, Seal Boy, backup C, and Happ.

 

Off chance of Happ or Javy being dealt. Young becomes an up and down option next year and a likely Seal Boy replacement in 2019, due to saving money incrementally.

 

He's got positional flexibility, makes contact, gets on base, and being home grown helps his cause too.

 

Again, this is dependent upon him hitting better in Iowa the rest of this year obviously.

Zagunis IS a guy that can take this role over Young. But again, I think he's got a bit of actual trade value, like Caratini.....

 

Those guys are potential 2nd guys in small deals. Young isn't on that level.

 

My argument here is he gets time here because he's NOT got trade value, but IS good enough to play in the majors. Hannemann could also be this type.

 

The others are much more likely to be used for pitching.
