Nashville may not get the nation excited, but I'd think the NHL would be happy solidifying that franchise and building goodwill among those fans. It can pay dividends down the road.

Folks around town are going nuts about the Predators. This area is starving for a sports team to rally around. It's been a while since UT or the Titans have been really good and Vandy is what it is, collegiate baseball title notwithstanding.

It's starting to get interesting. Perennial chokers- the Ducks and Caps- both have a chance to redeem themselves. Both are at home and both should be favored. Can't wait to see how they manage to blow it.

The Caps have been the best team all year. They take great pride in their Presidents Trophy s. They'll hang a banner on opening night. If they don't win people are talking about blowing it all up.

The Ducks have blown a 3-2 lead in the playoffs for 4 years in a row. Is there a less likable team in sports? If you exclude teams that actually win, I can't really think of one besides the Cowboys.

The Ducks have been good every year for a while but I'd be hard pressed to name you 2 players on that team. I mean just completely off the radar

WTF? Getzlaf, Kesler and Perry are pretty much household names in the hockey world. Eaves and Vermette probably on that next tier down.

I don't watch must Western Conference hockey. I'm not saying they don't have good players, I'm just saying that they're sort of a forgotten team when I think of which teams are perennially good

the ducks have been a very high profile team with lots of very high profile players for a long time now

Sure. I'm saying that I, me, this guy right here, is vaguely ignorant of them most of the time. That's all.

I cannot currently name a single Ducks player.

They are a good NHL team but a complete non-entity.

If they are "pretty much household names in the hockey world" they aren't household names anywhere.

it's strange to me that you can be even a casual hockey fan and not immediately think of getzlaf or perry. ryan getzlaf is a hall of famer and corey perry is a former mvp, 6x all-star, and one of the most notoriously hated players by opposing nhl fanbases

A: The only sport I watch games my team isn't involved in is football, and I don't really do that much anymore.

B: NHL is the sport I follow least closely

C: The Ducks are an afterthought

D: Getzlaf is a dumb fake name

E: Nobody gives 2 shits about Aneheim

F: Everybody moves around so often in hockey it's not worth paying attention to them

G: I've heard of all these names but could not care less what team they plan on

H: Only hockey dorks know anything about the Ducks

I: Corey Perry is something that rhymes with allegory

J: I confuse the names Corey Perry and Carey Price

K: 99% of hockey players are boring drones

L: Who gives a horsefeathers about the Aneheim Ducks?

yeah but D2 is the best kids sports movie of all time

Hmm. Does the original Karate Kid count as a sports movie?

How no hockey player has been able to create a real life knuckle puck is beyond me. Don't give me that crap about physics.

when we were kids we had a knockoff version where you set the puck up the same way and then hit only the top edge so it kicks off the ground like an onside kick. we were idiots.

Well both the teams I wanted to win last night lost. Now I am not sure who to root for. I actually don't mind Nashville despite a very loose rivalry with the Blackhawks in recent years. So probably them.

Nashville winning is good for the sport. Plus it reinforces how stupid the Canadiens were to trade Subban.

Go Ottawa

I have nothing against the Senators but I'm already tired of sports pundits wanting them to win because its been too long since a Canadian team won the cup and how it's "Their Game". They win the gold medal in every Olympics and now the World Cup. horsefeathers canada.
