If Tyrod Taylor is kept on March 12th, Bills are on the hook for 27.5 mil this season! The 2/27 deal is just the base salary IIRC. He has a 15.5 mil roster bonus on 3/12. The thing is... he can't be cut or possibly traded before that unless Bills want to fight against his agent and NFLPA. And no team would trade for him since he had surgery, can't pass a physical, and let Bills get out of that mess they created. Their only hope is that his rehab goes well (supposed to be 6-8 weeks), takes a physical on the 11th and he pass then cut him for no cap hit.

You guys will really undervalue what he would get on the market. His agent will be looking at Brock's as a floor as Taylor been better, proven to do it longer, and still on the right side of 30. Wouldn't shock me if he gets something close to Cutler's.

Maybe, but most teams are set at QB, the markets flooded. Who isn't set on QB's?

Cleveland, SF, Jets, Buffalo, Chicago, Houston. Romo's on the market, Cutler's on the market, Garoppolo's on the market. Potential franchise QB's Kizer and Trubisky will be on the market. Any team that takes one of them high will be out of the bidding on a long term deal with Taylor. If Buffalo cuts him, they will not be in the running.

Assuming Kizer goes to SF and Trubisky to the Jets (or vice versa), with the Bears taking Jonathan Allen, that leaves Cleveland and Chicago to bid on him, with Romo, Garoppolo, and Cutler still out there, with only Buffalo and Houston not set.

Now, Cleveland is not an attractive destination, and they will likely grab a QB in the draft early, like Watson. Houston is a very attracrive destination, but they just sunk a ton into Osweiler, are they going to go that route again? I think they'd probably rather go draft or try to snag Romo.

That drives down the price tags on all 3 of Romo, Garoppolo, and Taylor It's a buyer's market.

Chicago can also go to any free agent QB and talk about pass protection. They are the best team offensive line-wise in the market for a QB.

That tips the scales if offers are close.

Kelly had some pretty interesting criticism of Taylor that makes me wonder what they realistically want to replace them. Drafting someone at 10 has to be it right?

Romo to Denver. Cutler to Arizona? Garrapolo maybe stays put.

From what i understand, Denver isn't in the market for a QB, though they may draft a developmental opportunity. They seem set on Siemian.

The thing about Osweiler's contract is that it was looked at universally as an overpay, and has proven to be such after this season. Taylor has much more experience than Osweiler did this time last year, but he's also 2 years older and has little upside, doesn't have the intriguing size/arm combo. I think Alex Smith's deal is the ballpark (4/68) you're looking at. That's pretty much established as the going rate for middle of the road QBs. 16-18Mil average per season. It's where Taylor already is, and it's a group that includes guys like Smith, Dalton, Bradford, Osweiler and Cutler.

I don't know a ton about the current state of football, but it feels like if we are hoping for a Bills QB castoff, things are going to be bad for a few more years.

I kind of like the Taylor idea, but I do think you are putting somewhat of a cap on your offense. That said, it should be a low turnover offense, so you just need to invest heavily in your D and try and win games that way. But you still have to find a way to put resources into your offense including a long term answer at QB.

Yep. And Taylor won't have the type of salary that will kill you if he's a backup, especially if you have a starter on a rookie contract.

Watson has played great in 2 NC games. That has to matter. So much for him falling to the 2nd Rd.

I could easily see Pace falling in love with his intangibles.

I REALLY want to see this draft go Watson, Trubisky 1-2.....

Vince Young effect. But impressive.

Vince Young NFL is what scares me. Also, Watson may in traction after last night

You basically stated in more words exactly the points sulley was making.
