This franchise is so, so stupid.

And isn't Vernon Hargreaves looking like a legit player already for the Bucs? smh

slow down and breathe. neither has played a snap in the NFL regular season, yet.

People are just so, so down on the Bears.

I just don't see them being that bad.

I see them being 7-9, which is where they've sat for the better part of a decade and so, so bad.

and we'll see.

Unfortunately, me too

While 7-9 wouldn't shock me, neither would 10-6 or even 11-5. Such is the NFL.

12 wins would DEFINITELY shock my though.

10 would be a big surprise and 11 would shock me

they weren't that far from 10-6 last season. the problem is Fox's game management late and close.

I remember in the first Detroit game, Detroit was driving and Fox wasn't calling timeouts when it became clear that the clock wasn't really going to help them. Then Ratliff went down with a fake injury to stop the clock, and Fox hits the roof telling him to get up.

The next week is when Ratliff had his episode and he never played another down for the Bears.

They were very far from 10-6 and fox is still the coach.

The sooner everyone accepts that the Bears are in their "2011-2014 Cubs" phase, the less stressed about them you'll be

Baseball is not football. There is no such thing as a 4 year rebuild in football.

I mean they weren't that far in that they had 5-6 losses by less than a score but of course to win 4 extra games you would have had to go like 9-2 in close games since 5 of their 6 wins were also by less than a score. That seems quite improbable. yes they probably should have won the Minnesota (at soldier), SF and Washington games, but they also probably should have lost the Oakland, KC and San Diego games.

They were highly competitive, i mean, almost won or did win, every game that Cutler started and finished except the second vikings game.

As it's been pointed out, looking it in terms of games they "almost won" or "should have won" is a mostly faulty approach. Ultimately the Bears played a lot of very close games last year, but that's not necessarily a good thing, win or lose.

yes, but we aren't judging their place in last year's mix, we're trying to predict how good they'll be this year. if they got even a little bit better, they could be a playoff team.
