This is mostly my way of venting because I'm currently on a REALLY restricted high-protein diet. It's working great, but looking up horrendous junk food has become a weird habit for me.

high protein, high fat, low carb? low fat, high carb? low fat low carb?

It's the Ideal Protein diet; low carb, low sugar, low fat. Tons of veggies, protein-packed diet foods and 8 oz. of meat with dinner each night. I had been losing weight since the beginning of the year on my own, but then had a blood pressure spike that medicine could only get down so far. Doing this through my cardiologist's office (my heart has checked out as healthy, thankfully) and I've lost 20 pounds in 3 weeks. If you stick to the diet, men lose about 4-7 pounds a week and the protein and supplements prevent you from losing lean tissue. I have to go in each week to be weighed and measured, and they check my BP and do blood work every few weeks to make sure everything else is working fine. Ultimately it's something I could do on my own if I really invested the time and effort in making all of the food and measuring out the supplements, but I do much better with this sort of thing the less work I have to do. Can't argue with the results so far; sleeping better, BP down to normal levels and generally feeling MUCH better. I'll probably keep it up for another couple of months to get back to a weight I haven't been at in over a decade.

Good for you. Glad it's going well. Are you incorporating any exercise too or just going with the diet? Working out on low carb is really hard.

I have the same habit of looking at weird food porn (and i go on yelp a LOT) when I'm restricting my foods too. It weirdly helps.

Realized you were talking about the pics of bad nachos, too. I thought you were generally anti-nacho at first, and there was going to be words.

Now, PIZZA-NACHOS FOR EVERYONE:

Thanks. Yeah, I had to actually scale back my exercise when starting this, and it's made me a little stir crazy. Basically I can do a ton of walking and stretching and a little core stuff that's about it. No weights or running for another month or so.

And you're right about how looking at the food weirdly helps. I thought it would make me hungry, but it's just so over the top that it just ends up being fun to look at and to try and top. Basically this diet has me craving things like eating a good sandwich as opposed to an entire pizza.

Keep it up Sammy! Sounds like you're making great progress!

Thanks! I'm shooting to be at my target weight by the end of September so that I can properly cut loose when I'm back in Chicago in October to witness the Cubs make history. It'll line up perfectly.

Now let's all sit down for the game with a heaping helping of the monstrosity that is Spaghetti-O's-pizza:

i'm (temporarily) done with this healthy crap the second i land in vegas and i am going straight for in n out.

So delish. I wish there was one in my terminal in SFO

Yep. I'm not saying it's some mind blowingly different burger. but it's tasty and it's something i can only get when i'm there, so i get it.

i just have to remember not to order fries. i don't like them that much and every single time i end up leaving 75% of them. i always forget that i don't, because i love all fries (except culvers too...oh and burger king's are an abomination).

My 70 year old, 5'9" dad had peaked at 190 lbs., but his doctor was concerned about his cholesterol and pre-diabetes. He went on a similar diet (which sucked for him, because he loves wine and bread and such), but he's down to 155 in less than 6 months

that pizza is weird as hell because it looks really good (aside from the spaghettios) and (i hate this term but) on the "artisan" end of the spectrum, except it's covered in spaghettios too

Not sure how anyone can even look past the spaghettios

Yeah, not what I was expecting when I searched for it. It's like someone made a tasty homemade pizza and then inexplicably dumped canned pasta on it. I was expecting a frozen pizza soaked in Spaghetti-O's.
