Uh, Tim, I'm pretty sure you're not aware, but a new ad pop up on this site is Warrior XII, an apparel company that specializes in some serious Alt-Right messaging shirts. I'm thinking this started the other day when someone in the Politics Thread showed some tweet of some Right wing crazy.

Just a heads up, the ads are catered to your browsing history and the interests Google has deemed you have etc. Most of my ads are for cheap hipster golf balls, televisions and, this is weird, penis reduction surgery.

I know I was the one pushing back on youtube embeds back in the day, but now I'm gonna request TikTok embeds. Because if you do it right, TikTok has a lot of good, fun stuff.

Third. They are actually easy enough to exit out, but it totally messes up the "go to last read" functionality, and then I end up at the top of every page. That's the most annoying part for me.

I have no right to complain about ads on a site where someone else pays for the upkeep but these ads are getting annoying. If there’s a way to get rid of these ads without hurting overall ad revenue I’d really appreciate it

I use Brave for my browser at home, and today none of the buttons on the site work if I come here using Brave. Works fine in Edge and Chrome, so not sure what changed. Guess that "shut the horsefeathers up, Mojo" script finally started working.

Yeah, it annoyed me, too!

 

I figured out that if I just click the "board index" link first, the ad pops up at that point. Then I click my "Active Topics" link and proceed as normal and the popup doesn't reappear during that session.

YouTube videos don’t show up at all on mobile. Just a big blank space where the embedded video should be.
