Per all the national writers. Looks like he'll actually be playing OF for them. Last of the QO players off the board.

Have to wonder what that means for Austin Jackson. Rangers and Cubs were often listed as two of his likeliest destinations up until this week.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Rangers have agreed to a one-year, $8 million contract with Ian Desmond.

The deal is pending a physical. Obviously free agency didn't work out the way Desmond had hoped, as he wound up having to settle for a one-year contract worth much less than the qualifying offer he rejected and will have to move from shortstop to left field. The Rangers must surrender the No. 19 overall pick in order to sign Desmond, but getting the 30-year-old on a one-year deal could prove to be a great signing. Desmond has played the outfield for just two games at the major league level and a couple more times between the minors and winter league, but he's a good athlete and should be OK in left field. His power also figures to play well in Texas. The Rangers bringing in a full-time left fielder shows what little faith they have in Josh Hamilton's (knee) ability to stay healthy in 2016.

Probably should have taken that $100+ million extension, Ian. I know he was pretty bad last year, but I'm glad the Mets or Cardinals didn't get him, especially on this deal.

Jackson seems to be a good fit for the Indians, Orioles and Angels.
