What about activating the bad hitting catcher?

I'm sure they are more than happy to have him back as well, especially if he's healthy and starts to hit again. Even hurt Molina was better than their 3rd string guy and Wieters who was getting exposed catching everyday.

Yeah, I'm super pumped that we're going to be starting Yadi and his .654 OPS over Wieters and his exposed .744 OPS.

That's First Ballot Hall of Famer [tm] Yadi's .654 OPS

I would rather they stuck with Wieters who has been exposed with a .609 OPS the last 3 weeks along with the other catcher having a .570 OPS. There is a reason why Yadi is a HOF catcher and nobody other than the Cardinals wanted Wieters this winter.

Unless that reason he was secretly almost 40 the entire time and it doesn't matter that he's 37 and broken now, then who gives a horsefeathers.

How do you know he's still hurt?

Are all our hurt guys going to be broken when they come back of the IL too, or is this just a SSS Cardinals thing?

Maybe? But the 37 year old catcher who was awful this year, has a million miles on his body, was never that good to begin with, and has battled injuries the last few years and has hit .266/.303/.423 with a 92 wRC+ since 2017 is probably a decent bet to be pretty horsefeathering bad moving forward.

Haahahaha! Too good.

I hope he costs them tons of games going forward, but they are a way better team with him on the roster vs Knizner.

Doesn't work that way. Yadi is going to start 90% of games.

It does work that was. YM is better than a exposed MW and MW is better that the prospect they had backing up.

It feels like we've had this happen multiple times: rando dude shows up who seemingly hates everything about the Cubs except the things that most everyone else here dislikes, which the rando defends well past the point of sanity, and then they also end up acting as hardcore Brewers and/or Cardinals defenders in how they talk about them like they're these terrifying, nigh-unbeatable forces.

It's just...imagine dying on these hills. I'm all for wasting an afternoon debating minutiae, but cherry picking a sample size to debate the relative merits of one washed up catcher vs another to try and decide who will be the 17th best player on another team for 6 weeks of baseball, and then like...quadrupling down. Jesus.

And that's to say nothing about the disaster that the Russell thread has turned into.

Oh, so now I'm a Cardinals fan because I have common sense to know they are better with Molina on the roster? I'm sure if you poll their pitchers everyone of them is happy he's back even if his thumb was still messed up.

DEF for Cardinals catchers

+3.7 Molina

-3.3 Wieters

-2.8 Kinzner

With Molina catching, Cardinals pitchers's NL rankings are 10th in FIP and 9th in WAR with below average framing to boot. He's literally been a negative to their staff.

The defensive plus rating which you referenced is 29th in baseball behind defensive wunderkind Victor Caratini

Oh, so now you spitefully want Tony Kemp to never be able to know the joys of bringing life into the world? YOU SAVAGE ANIMAL MONSTER.

How much do you want to bet the Cardinals pitchers don't feel that way? Every single one wants to have Molina back there of the other two guys they have.
