2. Chris Jones, DT, Mississippi State

If teams are willing to overlook Jones’ up-and-down effort during his college career, our analysts view Jones as being worth a top-15 pick. For a guy with the “questionable motor” label, he was awfully productive in our grading system. He earned the No. 1 pass-rush grade among defensive tackles in the nation, after having produced 46 total pressures including three sacks on 284 pass-rush snaps. He will be viewed as raw by some, but his combination of length and power bear some resemblance to the Jets’ Muhammad Wilkerson – which is why he’s a potential fit either at 4-3 defensive tackle 3-4 defensive end.

Any interest in a trade for Clady?

Probably not. Leno probably isn't good enough, but Clady isn't a guarantee to be better.....because he's not a guarantee to be able to actually play after 2 ACLs in 3 years.

Clady has a 9.5M cap hit this year and 10M next year. It's not guaranteed money though. But, he'd have to restructure before a trade could happen.

Denver probably wants something not insignificant for him. Most I'd give up is a conditional 5th/6th in 2017.

I'm guessing he'll be cut eventually. At that point, I'd definitely be interested on a 1-year deal.

They have multiple contracts that are easy to restructure apparently and Payton has expressed his unadulterated love for Hill and how he plays the game. He'll stay a Saint.

From McShay's mock:

11. Chicago Bears

Jack Conklin, OT, Michigan State

Inside linebacker is much less of a need after the Bears picked up Danny Trevathan and Jerrell Freeman in free agency. But even after signing offensive tackle Bobby Massie, Chicago could still look to spend a first-rounder on another OT. Conklin is a plug-and-play starter on either the left or right side of the line, with the long arms (35 inches) and agility to protect the QB. This move would also allow Kyle Long to bump back inside to his natural position at guard and solidify the entire O-line.

This morning Biggs said he thinks Leno will be the LT and that DE or CB is the most likely pick in rd 1.

I don't know how McShay thinks Long is going to be anything but RG after all the reports that came after the Massie signing.

Inching closer to the draft means me playing more fanspeak mock drafts and posting the ones I really like.

11: R1P11, DT A'SHAWN ROBINSON, ALABAMA

41: R2P10, TE HUNTER HENRY, ARKANSAS

72: R3P, S JEREMY CASH, DUKE

107: R4P8, CB RASHARD ROBINSON, LSU

128: R4P29, WR PHAROH COOPER, SOUTH CAROLINA

151: R5P11, TE JERELL ADAMS, SOUTH CAROLINA

186: R6P10, RB JOSH FERGUSON, ILLINOIS

207: R6P31, OT JOE DAHL, WASHINGTON STATE

231: R7P9, OLB VICTOR OCHI, STONY BROOK

Definitely hope to see DB and DL stressed in the draft. And its apparently a weak TE draft, but I like a lot of the names I see.

Bears sign a guy named Manny Ramirez. Presumably not the baseball player.

Surprise, a history with Fox, but most recently with Detroit. Has played G and C, so sounds like a Montgomery replacement and the interior swing guy we needed.

Excellent signing. Was surprised to see this from Windy City Gridiron:

Last year with the Lions he played in all 16 games, with 7 starts and Pro Football Focus had him down as the number 4 center.

I guess they are also signing another interior swing guy, Ted Larsen, from Arizona. 86 games with 57 starts at all 3 spots in 6 seasons.

IF Grasu is still in the plans, they are certainly making sure he isn't forced into action again this year. Or he is Paces first bust.

ETA- Interior line looks strong, and versatile now. At OT though Long is the only guy with game experience outside of the starters.

Yeah, taking an OT early is a must. In addition to depth problems there, pretty sure Leno is a stop-gap and Massie probably isn't as good as the Bears think he is.

I think they think Massie is basically Long at RT... ups and downs with potential and still young. Meanwhile Long at RG >>>>>> crap from last year, so a net huge gain. Massie will be easy to walk away from if he flops. So I don't think they think he's as good as you think they think he is. :?
