I have seen a few articles now positioning the Cubs FO among the top 3 in all of MLB. With this in mind, the article states that the Dodgers are paying

Friedman 9M per year. Is Theo easily worth 10-11M or more in your mind? I think so with the way revenues are exploding. I think he could easily ask for (maybe not receive) up to 15M in some orgs.

Relevant part: “We have talked about getting an extension in place,” Ricketts said about Epstein’s deal. “I think generally we are on the same page, and we will be getting around to it shortly.”

Epstein signed a five-year deal for $18.5 million in October 2011. At that time, his salary was at the top of baseball men running organizations. Fast forward to present day, and the Dodgers’ Andrew Friedman is making $9 million a year, while two or three others have passed Epstein in pay as well.

The Dodgers are always an outlier when it comes to money, so I don't necessarily take Friedman's salary as a starting point. I think Epstein is smart enough to know that he's possibly on the verge of a golden era for the Chicago Cubs, so I don't think he would seriously think about leaving. As Ricketts pointed out they're on the same page, so I don't think either side is out to screw the other side. I would think 5 years/$25 million with some ownership options would probably be agreeable to both sides.

I think Theo's ego is big enough that he will want to be in the same ranges as the highest paid executives in sports. He can go anywhere.

Edit: if I were him I'd ask for an ownership stake.

he deserves (and should and will be paid) as well as any top MLB executive. 8-10 MM AAV I'm sure. I mean, are they really going to scoff at a few extra million per year in the current financial climate of the game?

Theo's ego is big enough that he won't want to leave a team primed for a long run of success. As for ownership, each 1% is worth about $13 million, so spread over a 5 year contract you add $2.6 million per year. 5 yrs/ $25 million in salary with 2% ownership is worth well over $10 million per year.

Theo is worth exactly how much he requests. Hoyer and mcleod, too.

If he did walk, that would bring him full circle from when he won in Boston because a winner was already in place- at least that's what Yankees fans always say.
