I think they like Edwards and Patton quite a bit. I wouldn't be surprised to see either or both make the team out of camp.

Who has options? I know Edwards does, and Rivero, and Ramirez does not.

Patton does also?

Does Brothers? He's a lot more interesting if he does.

I really don't think it's a gimme that Wood is traded. That's nine guys for a team that frequently runs 8 relievers, a few of whom could be optioned or even sent away (Strop, Brothers, Wood and Richard all have non-guaranteed contracts as of right now).

If we need to in order to sign Heyward, fine, but he's not superfluous.

Agree completely. It's not like we've got an excess of relief options. Wood was good in relief, and his expected salary seems reasonably in line with what relievers get. (See Motte's $10/5 deal; Cahill's $4.5/1, etc...) That he can pitch extra innings, go multi-inning, and start if circumstances necessitate, he seems like he fits very well. If there's some compelling reason like Heyward to clear salary, OK, but I'll be surprised if he's traded.

The Cub Reporter has a great resource for any option-related questions: http://www.thecubreporter.com/cubs-40-man-roster

Brothers, Grimm, and Warren have options so they can technically be sent down, but they need to pass through a version of revocable waivers first.

Acevedo, Beeler, Edwards, Jokisch, Patton, and Rosscup have options that can be freely used.

Everyone else is out of options. Of note, that means Ramirez, Medina, and Olmos need to make the MLB roster or risk waivers.

I saw somewhere the Rays had interest in Vogelbach/Szczur/Villanueva. I don't know what else we'd have to add for McGee, but I'd love to still grab him somehow.
