Don't like that pitch selection against Simmons. No reason to try to get him to strikeout looking on a front door cutter with a 3 run lead. Challenge there.

ugh. I didn't want Arrieta starting this inning at all, though I guess I get it with Richard tomorrow then a DH on Tuesday featuring a guy that only lasted 1 inning his last time out.

And that gets Arrieta's ERA under 1 for the last 6 starts. Of course there's been about 8 pitchers better than him over that span.

Man, if Castro could just focus on going the other way all the time.....

This seems like a good mindset for him. Focus on hitting stuff hard to right and then just react on anything hard and in. At the very least it would force pitchers to change things up from living on the outside half against him.

He's got enough pop that he's not just going to be hitting weak singles that way, so it seems like he could do some damage even with that approach.

Seriously. Or just find a way to increase offense. I appreciate a good pitchers duel but not every game.

He's a singles hitter that doesn't get enough singles. He did enough damage with that approach for the first part of his career. He's definitely thinking too much at the plate.

This Cardinals game has to be the peak to their LOB% madness. The Mets have 14 hits and 13 walks in 17 innings and one run.

I have faith in Strop, especially with a cushion of more than one run. But man, Grimm has been crazy good; he needs higher leverage innings.

Strop's suckiness has moved from "bad luck" to "a worrying pattern"

I'd kill myself if that were the Cubs. 1-25 with RISP in that game. 1 for twenty five!
