NSBB Slack Chat (IRC)?

Wanted to get more eyeballs on this, but mods please move if you deem this irrelevant to this subforum.

 

This idea might be frowned upon because it involves shifting focus away from the coming back to the actual NSBB forum for live discussions (game threads), but I think it would be really fun to experiment with a Slack based chatroom for these and maybe other topics.

The immediate negative would be losing the archival nature of game threads, and also the grand tradition of them, but maybe it could be use as more a supplement and less of a replacement. I also know that Slack has a ton of API integrations that could possibly export the chat archives into readable digests?

If we're going to do a chatroom, I'd prefer to find something I could embed in the site. The customer that has been supporting the server for the past couple years will unfortunately be moving off of there sometime within the next few months. I'm going to have to go back to having NSBB support the server costs.
