Is there anyone in the VSL worth following?

Here you go:

CaliforniaRaisin"]Arizona Phil has the VSL Cubs roster: http://thecubreporter.com/05172015/your-2015-vsl-cubs

Oh, oh. Albert Almora and Bijan Rademacher collide. Both are down and not moving.

Both till down. Almora holding his head, but presumably in pain not injur.y Trainers focusing on both players' legs. Rademacher knee focus.

Almora up now. Rademacher seems like the more serious injury. Looks like the knee.

I play the game hard, [expletive] happens! I will never change!

Almora going Springer on Twitter!

@kschwarb12: @albertalmora plays the game the right way with grit and heart! Can't teach that guys! That's a guy I want on my team any day! #gamechanger

Isn't that what they used to say every time Reed Johnson did anything?

Nice...I was afraid that "makeup" was the only primary tool displayed by Almora. He obviously has TWTW in his hip pocket as well.

But screw Rademacher, that guy is a cancer and needs to be stopped

I'd take a Reed Johnson like career for Almora.

I wonder how close Eloy is to getting promoted to South Bend.

Arizona Phil"]The Eloy Jimenez HR gives him the team lead with two, and he is now hitting 317/348/583 in 19 Cactus League EXST games (66 PA). In addition to the two home runs, Eloy also has four doubles and is tied for the team lead in triples with three (tied with Kevin Encarnacion), and he leads the team in RBI (15 ) and in runs scored (11). He has three walks and ten strikeouts in the 66 PA, and he has also stolen three bases (no CS).

As human beings, they are equal. As prospects, they are not. If Bijan Rademacher's journey to backup 5th outfielderdom is set back a few months due to a banged up knee, no sleep is lost.

Wouldn't Eugene be his first stop?

My hunch is that at this point, he probably heads to Eugene for a bit first, but if they feel he's taken that many leaps, I could see a jump to South Bend. I mean, it's not like Jeffrey Baez, much as I like 60+ power and Yasiel Balaguert are doing anything to keep their South Bend slots. Eugene starts right around the corner, though (June 18th, I beieve), so my guess is he probably heads there and they wait and see if he's ready for the jump, but who knows.

Thanks. But aren't IFA signings south of $500K considered iffy at best these days?

Um ... can you explain what you mean by iffy? There have been enough notable guys that developed but were sub-500K signings. I can think of one particular Cubs example, but there are others.

I mean, it means they aren't the well-known, "expected" studs, but ISB's are a gauge, and they really shouldn't be used as the sole factor to judge the intrigue of a player. These are kids ... a lot of them grow and mature differently. For every Gleyber Torres example, there are multiple top ISB guys who flamed out (off the top, Angel Villalona comes to mind).

Didn't Starlin have a pretty small bonus?

I believe $50K.

There's always going to be exceptions. Starlin was like $45K, Daury Torrez $25, Junior Lake $100 played their way onto the radar, not guys that were being watched from day one. Torres and Jimenez, and to a lesser extent, Ruby Silva, Frank DelValle, and Mark Malave were news when signed, so we knew to keep an eye on them from the beginning.
