I thought franchise 4 was best *living* players...

 

well then they made a pretty big mistake by including mordecai brown, unless he's about 150 years old now.

Ahh, there are actually different categories: Negro Leaguers, MLB Pioneers, and Living Players.

anyway, our list seems kind of lame when you consider that the yankees have a top 4 of ruth, gehrig, mantle and dimaggio, or the giants (mays, bonds, ott, christy mathewson), or the red sox with ted williams, yaz, clemens (hilariously omitted from the red sox voting options) and boggs (also omitted inexplicably).

 

Maybe the reason those franchises have almost 50 World Series titles combined & the Cubs haven't won for 100 years is because they had better players.

Banks, Jenkins, Santo, then a tough choice between Williams, Sandberg, and Sosa. I'll say Sandberg.

Sosa isn't a sure thing?

 

Steroids and corked bat aside, Sosa is the Mr. Cub of the modern era. He was my hero when I was a little kid. He is one of the four if anyone is.

Santo's arguably the best player of those four. If you're going to swap Sosa for anyone I'd say Williams.
