Doesn't sound good....

CHRISTOPHER ELSAN. The major league pitcher Pedro Strop and a companion identified as Yeudy Delgado, were involved in a double accident that occurred in Sabana Grande de Palenque-Juan Barón, highway in the province of San Cristobal.

The accident occurred after Strop and Yeudy Delgado, left the activities of the festivities of Juan Barón, when the vehicle lost control and crashed into a wall of a deceased estate of Major League baseball player Jose Uribe.

An SUV brand vehicles Robert Lanz and a convertible Mustang, were destroyed. The dung of the Chicago Cubs in the big leagues and those involved in the incident were taken to a health center for the National District.

The police authorities in Great Sabana de Palenque did not report the accident, so the Metropolitan Transport Police has no open investigation concerning the fact accidents, as reported in the same scene.

He was rear ended and hit a wall. Here's his car:

Strop is now in a hospital. He's alive, so that's good. Guess we have to wait to see how seriously he's hurt. Wouldn't be shocked if alcohol was involved since he came from a big celebration.

Well that's morbidly coincidental.

@thekapman: Report I just got on Pedro Strop is very encouraging. Sounds like he is going to be ok. I'll provide more details as I get them.

@BrianSandalow: #Cubs spokesman Peter Chase has confirmed that Strop was in an accident, but "initial reports are encouraging."

#Cubs say Pedro Strop is fine after car accident in Dominican Thu night, which is amazing when you see his car.

Given the size of the DR and the proportion of MLB and MiLB players I imagine the island as some sort of sports car/luxury SUV show place with patches of 1970s Ladas, and others rust buckets.

@EddieInTheYard: Just spoke with fmr #Orioles/current #Cubs RHP Pedro Strop. Said is doing OK after car accident in Dominican. He was not seriously injured.

@EddieInTheYard: Strop said he went to hospital as precaution after crash. X-rays were negative. Needed 3-4 stitches in left elbow, but otherwise was fine.

I could have worked in Trinidad earlier this week for a couple of days, but based on what I knew about driving in the DR the first thing I checked was how dangerous it is in Trinidad. Decided not to go because the highway I would have been on is one of the most dangerous roads in Latin America for both driving and carjacking.

My inlaws lived there for a couple of years for work. They actually have no laws against drinking and driving because the population is too addicted to rum.
