Sherman is amazing. Buncha old ladies here tonight.

it wasn't amazing, it was like my grandfather berating a metermaid. sherman was so mad he was tripping all over himself, there was even snot on his face. definitely an embarrassing display.

This is so weird; I figured you of all people would have been saluting how hilarious and great that was.

If that's your thing, go nuts. I just have a little outrage fatigue for that specifically since it's getting near to the point where Deadspin's going have to say something like "if you thought the racism about Player X yesterday was bad, check out what the twitterscape is saying about Player Y after today!"

As I said down thread, if publicly shaming someone makes them think twice about making ignorant statements, it's a good thing. Some people will go to the grave being racist, but for some, reflection on their stupidity might help.

As I mentioned upthread, I don't think it's all that intellectually honest to claim that provoking social change is the reason that Deadspin makes those posts, or the reason that people read them and yell at the people who show up in those posts.

It has zero to do with "provoking change;" it has everything to do with publicly shaming/embarrassing racists so that they're rightfully harassed and/or their Twitter accounts are suspended (or hopefully worse). And they deserve all of it.

No it doesn't. DS exists entirely for page views these days

It's both; it's a given that they're going to post things they want people to click on. It's their business. And it's also about publicly shaming and mocking scumbags. Everyone wins.

If I made a play on a possible TD ball to put my team into the SB I'd still be talking this morning. Hell, I'd probably zip myself up into Crabtrees equipment bag and pop out like a [expletive] genie in a bottle once we got back to SF

but it wasn't done well, looking back on the event, it just wasn't done well. it was a meltdown, not a glorious evisceration.

And if that were the right thing to do but it didn't get page views? Basically we're going to have to agree to disagree here, there's no nobility there, it's outrage porn.

Also, since I didn't really comment on the topic itself, I thought Sherman's interview was half terrifying(the tone), half hilarious(the message). He can do that all he wants for all I care. I didn't really care who won so an entertaining finish and Sherman's interview made the whole thing a success to me.

I would have liked it if Crabtree was a really famous, marquee player. Other than being awesome at texas tech, and kinda being a bust of a pick I dont know anything about him (other than the recent claims of him being the greatest catcher ever).

I loved when TO did the Ray Lewis dance that was awesome but calling out a decent, relatively anonymous possession wide reciever was pretty dumb.

Hasnt everybody on this seahawks defense, including RS, gotten caught using banned performance substances? I guess who cares though because its not threatening to dillute the historical signicance of Harmon Killebrew's career home run total.

People who think Sherman is a thug based on that rant were just waiting for the black man to do something that they could call thuggish

he's not a thug at all. it's like he went out of his element to say thuggish things. he's usually smart and funny, but he came off like a pissed-off oaf uttering nonsense. it was like watching mike ditka.

Not asking this to be argumentative, but do you think there's an altruistic way to bring this stuff to light? Or that it should be ignored?

I'm not disagreeing with anything in terms of them trying to get people to click on their site; I don't know why pointing out that Deadspin is also trying to get pageviews with literally everything they post is supposed to be some kind of "ah-ha" moment.

That was in May 2013, there had been 5 suspensions at that point (2010-2013 Pete Carroll's entire tenure) and that didn't count Sherman getting off on the Ryan Braun Memorial "they didn't properly collect/handle the sample" defense. Since then, Thurmond and Browner have both been suspended (Browner for a year, but in fairness only because of a technicality due to missing a drug test while not even playing in the NFL, it was only his second positive test, iirc which would normally be a 4 game suspension at worst)

Yeah, they chalk up many of those those suspensions to Adderall, but I don't think I'm the only one who finds it curious that, golly, all these NFL players need to take Adderall and have a prescription for it and just forget to get it approved by the NFL even though so many people have been suspended for that reason.

It just bothers me that guys like Melky Cabrera get strung up and SFG keep him out of the playoffs voluntarily. Seattle had at least two guys, including sherman, playing D yesterday that have tested positive. These guys are in a position to potentially cause long-lasting harm to guys they play against. Not to single out Seattle but in general there is not much stigma to being caught with PEDs in the NFL. Sammy Sosa isnt even allowed on Wrigley Field's grounds and Sherman is like a cult hero.

you guys do realize that Sherman went over to Crabtree first and told him good game and held out his hand to shake and crabtree shoved him off...

The Niners displayed worse sportsmanship than all of that during the kneeldowns...Aldon Smith took a shot at Wilson and Wilson just tapped his helmet and left. On the last kneeldown the guy on the left side of the D-line popped Giacomini (Right Tackle).

definitely chippy. Sherman was brutally honest about it all instead of the boring crap like "played a good game...blah blah" However, this whole thing started on Thursday when Crabtree told reporters that Sherman was a nobody and he didn't study the film on him because he didn't matter.

Sherman was targeted the least of any corner all year but somehow led the league in Interceptions. Good Player.

For those of you hating on the seahawks now because they have a coach that people have irrational hate for and because their players speak whats on their minds instead of the mindless dribble, all power to you but after 2/2 I think that some of you may turn that around.

Oh yeah, I have an irrational hatred for Pete Carroll. [expletive] is a truther. I hope someone asks him what he thinks about 9/11 on media day so he's exposed to the whole country for the raging douchebag he is.

Super Bowl media is definitely random and crazy enough for that to happen.

Crossing my fingers for this now.

Wow. I knew Carroll was a complete douchebag but that was even before being reminded about the 9/11 bit. What an [expletive]. Then again, maybe we are just being "haters".
