Prospect Staff Positions Available

As the 2013 offseason creeps towards us, our eyes start to turn to projects and productions yet unaccomplished, and the personnel necessary to not only execute those resplendent tasks but to elevate the bar previously set. Our goals and ambitions going forward will require an expansion in coverage, and as a result, we are looking to add talent evaluators to the prospect staff.

 

At Baseball Prospectus, we don’t wear the label of journalists or baseball writers; rather, we consider ourselves talent evaluators first and everything else second. Our main ambition is not to be an aggregator of industry information as much as it is to put quality eyes on the prospects themselves, offering eyewitness accounts to help support or contradict those industry opinions.

 

The backbone of evaluation is being familiar with the process and owning the necessary skills to make confident determinations based on your experience. We aren’t looking for Google scouts or cell phone warriors who rehash information available elsewhere. We are looking for people who thrive in the environments of minor-league parks, the type of people who can sit on a series and recognize the difference between a future major leaguer and a minor leaguer putting up good numbers. We are looking for legit talent evaluators.
