This is terrible. Ump took it away.

I can't believe I let this team sucker me into caring about it for a few days. I'm not even mad at them. That is totally on me.

It was a fun mini-run, but struggling to score 1-2 runs is a recipe for sorrow more often than not. Losing the first game was basically punishment for living on the edge for so long.

This ump owes us a bunch of missed strikes.

was anyone going to trade for Gregg anyway? We're definitely stuck with him now.

You do realize that scouts watch the games right? They don't simply discount a guy because they see a BS in the box score.

Plus Sveum really needs to be on the field up that ump's ass.

You do know scouts for other teams actually watch the games, right?

Yes, and for the past several weeks he's been giving up bullets all over the park and getting saves in spite of it.

But you said this was a make or break outing for him...

The cubs have never won a game when theyve been down to their final strike.

Game should have been over on a blown strike three call but Castro needs to make that play. That's an e6 all day.

Segura's lucky hit didn't help either

"We're definitely stuck with him now" seems to indicate that Gregg's performance tonight is going to scare everyone away. The 9th inning consisted of a high-hopper infield single, a missed strike 3 call (with Gregg repeatedly painting on/around the corners), and a slow line drive that should have been caught. None of that is on Gregg and anyone who was interested in him before this outing should still be interested in him now.
