He had a great start recently (yeah I know, age appropriate). I'm thinking the FO wants to get him some extensive coaching in AAA, I'd say atleast a month. But what if Garza is traded within the next week? Do they have some filler like Rusin in there for a few starts, or does Jake take over immediately?

I personally don't expect to see him pitch in the majors until mid August. What do you think?

Don't remember the particulars, but if we keep him down until a certain date, we gain another year of control on him. Whatever it was, it made me think he'd stay in the minors for July and part of August.

last 2 posts make sense and can give me an idea of how long. And that's right now I remember about that article. Whatever that cutoff date is, we can expect them to wait atleast that long.

He had 2 years + 66 days of MLB service time to start the season.

31 days of MLB service this season. So 2 years 97 days of serice time.

172 days of service count as a full season I believe. So they need to keep him at/under 74 days the rest of the way if I'm not mistaken.

The "stuff" isn't the issue, it's his "approach"/"mental aspect" to things that's held him back a bit. That makes it a bit tougher to figure out when they give him a look, but I'd be surprised if he wasn't called up by September for a couple starts, if only to give Bosio a chance to feel him out a bit this year and see what Bosio and Sveum feel about his future role.

From Arizona Phil @ TCR

Jake Arrieta accrues one day of MLB Service Time today while serving as the Cubs "26th man" for the doubleheader.

Arrieta needs to accrue at least 58 more days of MLB Service Time in 2013 (but there are only 62 days left in the MLB regular season) to be eligible for salary arbitration as a "Super Two" post-2013 (a "Super Two" must accrue at least 86 days of MLB Service Time in the season immediately preceding to receive "Super Two" status), so the Cubs will probably want to send him back to Iowa for at least another five days no matter how he pitches today.

Remember that a player recalled as a "26th man" for a doubleheader that is scheduled at least 48 hours in advance is not bound by the "ten-day rule" (where a player cannot be recalled for least ten days after being optioned to the minors, unless the player is recalled to replace a player on the MLB 25-man roster who is placed on the DL or other MLB inactive list), so the Cubs would not have to wait ten days to recall Arrieta if he is optioned back to Iowa tomorrow.
