I've really become disinterested in baseball the last several years. In 2007-08, I was as rabid a fan as they come. And those October flameouts were obviously disappointing. But around that same time the Hawks were rising and I started watching a lot more of their games again, including the playoffs. And the excitement is just so much greater to me in hockey that it made watching baseball seem like something old people do to pass the time.

Yeah, I don't think it has to do with which sport is better.

It's about the simple fact that the Cubs suck right now, and the Hawks are great.

it's not a question about which sport is better. The topic was specifically about the intensity and excitement of playoff hockey. baseball is much more about the 6 month regular season. NHL is all about the race for the stanley cup at the end. Regular season hockey is kind of ugo, especially early on and doesn't compare to its postseason.

Definitely still riding the high. Trying to convince my wife to let me go to Chicago tomorrow...

Yeah I don't know why but I feel that way too, and I don't think its just a matter of the more recent memory seeming better.

Well, they won the president's trophy this year, set some records, and don't have to go through a salary cap dismantling. The fact that they've won 2 in short order also removes the concern that they were a 1 and done group like the 85 Bears.

It's crazy when you think about it....Chicago teams that have one multiple tittles in a short period of time is limited to

2010/2013 Blackhawks

1990's Bulls

1940/1941/1943/1946 Bears

1907/1908 Cubs

That's it....every other title has as wide window between championships

My pro sports teams are 9-2 in championship games/series in my lifetime.

Bulls 6-0

Blackhawks 2-1

Bears 1-1

Not bad....I guess that would be mine as well. You said pro but I'll add UM hoops being 1-3 in my lifetime as well.

Watching the replay on CSN right now.

I really do like Emrick. He's perfect for the sport, IMHO.

For anyone heading downtown tomorrow, have fun. I really want to go, but just can't make it happen.

Yeah, it's winding down right now so if you're like me and missed the last half of the 3rd period, it's perfect.

I've seen that last goal a number of times now but just now saw that Frolik deflection before Bollands rebound. Without that deflection, Rask makes that save.

funny, I just noticed that for the first time on the replay as well. Key deflection that was inches from being a goal on it's own.

On the highlights, I thought Bolland totally threw his gloves off early.

Now I think he kind of threw them off after they already got caught in the Boston player's pads.

Yeah looked like he just wanted to get free a quickly as possible so he could celebrate. I've watched that CBC "last two minutes" video on YouTube 10 times at least.

the biggest part of the tying goal was probably kane dancing through a monster trap and starting the whole play

I always thought Bolland was stuck and never thought it was a preemptive GWG celebration thing til i saw the CBC feed. Thought it was a weird response for them

boychuk came down with his stick and wouldn't budge. you can see bolland try to pull free, but boychuk had him pinned, that's when he got rid of his stick and gloves.

it was a brilliant redirect, and it was unlucky post.

neither the nbc or cbc announcers mentioned it. they should have been screaming about it, it was masterful. i saw it on the second replay.

CBC mentioned the tip several times. The actual call went "Here's a chance for Oduya, tipped, Bolland, scores!"

The announcer then mentioned the deflection during replays.

Yeah, I noticed his stick/gloves being stuck immediately. He shed them just to get away to celebrate. And [expletive], I don't blame him!
