Yes, you're right. I was crazy to think a statement like "NOTHING beats playoff hockey. Nothing." said hours after watching his team win the stanley cup could possibly be hyperbolic or based in euphoria.

And that last sentence is complete and utter nonsense. I really don't want to bash hockey, but you're trying to pick this fight... If most people who pay attention to sports think nothing beats it, why is it it easily the 4th most popular sport?

Man you sound like a moron right now.

Breaking Bad is good and all but call me when it gets better ratings than Big Bang Theory.

People who are not huge hockey fans, and also aren't freaking idiots, often admit that playoff hockey can't be beat. They may not care for the game the other 10 months of the year, but when they do watch it in the playoffs, and again, aren't idiots, they will admit to its greatness.

You're making me look like a troll in this thread but I can't back off.

So, people who watch sports and don't "admit to its greatness" are freaking idiots? Cool story.

The Big Bang/BB comparison is pretty shitty considering you were the one who brought up what people who pay attention to sports think in the first place. I don't really give a [expletive] what people think.

You are the one who came into the playoff hockey thread the morning after a Stanley Cup win trying to convince everyone how irrelevant hockey is.

I'm really not. I just had to take issue with that statement because playoff baseball is [expletive] awesome and I won't stand to see it take a back seat to anything.

Wrong fight, wrong day, man.

Awwww I wanted to make the "wrong challenge" joke.

Hockey playoffs are better than baseball playoffs. I watched the 2003 playoffs. I watched both of the Hawks Stanley Cup runs. I wanted them both equally, both had their drama, but hockey playoffs are just better.

They're just different styles. Hockey is all about speed, and baseball is all about the slow, torturous build of anticipation or fear, depending on how the game is going. It ultimately comes down to personal preference.

But I'll tell ya, I'd watch a hockey playoff game between two teams that I'm not a fan of....I don't do the same with baseball. I'm unlikely to watch much, if any, of the baseball playoffs this year...unless it's to hate-watch the Cardinals, hoping they lose. I watched a lot of of non-Blackhawks playoff games and was highly entertained.

I admit, the Cubs have really quashed my interest in baseball quite a bit over the last few years, but I've long thought that the hockey playoffs were the best playoffs in sports.

TBFIBB chimed in on facebook:

"Big Whoop. Chicago finally won something. Too bad the Cubs will always suck. #GoBlues #GoRams #GoCards"

You don't get to be the best fans in all of baseball without being a complete and total douche, apparently!

On another note... I was able to introduce hockey to my 2 nephews (aged 15 and 13). They'd never watched it before and were pleasantly surprised at all the action. I told them that NOTHING beats playoff hockey. Nothing.

Playoff baseball does. And basketball. And football. But definitely baseball.

Let the hockey fans say what they want in the hockey thread.

I just don't like euphoria based hyperbole I guess.

it's not. it's a very common sentiment.

Fair enough. But I think that last sentence might be really key. Would you really have made the same statement in, say, 2007/8 or 2003/4? Maybe. I dunno.

while browsing bruins forum today, i'm kind of surprised at how much they seem to hate crawford. i can't think of a single thing about crow that could piss anyone off. i mean i know they hate our entire team right now, but crawford really got under their skin somehow.

I think it's because they all think he sucks and they are pissed they couldn't dominate him like they expected. At least that's the gist i got from browsing earlier.

Well, he was the guy most responsible for preventing them from scoring as many goals as they wanted.

The fact that the Hawks scored as many goals in 17 seconds or w/e as the Penguins did in an entire series is pretty amazing.
