Basically counting the hours until puck drop at this point.

Yep. I'm not ready for hockey to be over. And it's over for me when the Blackhawks are done.

Seeing the Hawks the last 2 games makes me simultaneously happy and upset. It's pretty great what they did on Saturday, and then last night's 3rd period was just amazing.

But this is what we should have seen the whole series. And we didn't.

Win tomorrow and all is forgiven. I'm still not there yet. Still angry at them for games 2-4.

yeah, i'm pissed that howard could basically steal a game from us and we'd be done. a bad call and we're done. we're too close to the end here.

i'm also convinced that babcock's team has taken on his personality and will come out punching from the opening bell, pressuring our defensemen desperately, aggressively attacking our point on the penalty, and harassing the hell out of our captain at every opportunity.

game 7 is going to be a meat-grinder.

I'm not gonna lie, I really kinda like Babcock. From the interviews and PC's I've seen during this series, just strikes me as a pretty straightforward, no excuses type.

The Puck Daddy blog gives a detailed description of why Frolik's penalty shot was legit:

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-puck-daddy/blackhawks-penalty-shot-really-want-nhl-playoff-officiating-134744828.html

From the NHL’s rule book, the conditions for calling a penalty shot:

There are four (4) specific conditions that must be met in order for the Referee to award a penalty shot for a player being fouled from behind. They are:

(i) The infraction must have taken place in the neutral zone or attacking zone, (i.e. over the puck carrier’s own blue line);

(ii) The infraction must have been committed from behind;

(iii) The player in possession and control (or, in the judgment of the Referee, clearly would have obtained possession and control of the puck) must have been denied a reasonable chance to score (the fact that he got a shot off does not automatically eliminate this play from the penalty shot consideration criteria. If the foul was from behind and he was denied a “more” reasonable scoring opportunity due to the foul, then the penalty shot should be awarded);

(iv) The player in possession and control (or, in the judgment of the Referee, clearly would have obtained possession and control of the puck) must have had no opposing player between himself and the goalkeeper.

On Colaiacovo’s play, it (i) took place in the attacking zone and (ii) was committed from behind and (iii) Frolik was denied a scoring chance and (iv) there was no one between Frolik and Howard.

It’s a clear-as-day penalty shot call.

BUT YOU DON'T MAKE THAT CALL IN GAME 6 OF A PLAYOFF SERIES

yeah, right, if anything, you HAVE to make the correct call because so much is riding on the game. you can't just let breakaways get slashed from behind and scoring chances get gooned up.

The sentiment against the penalty call seems to be that Detroit has gotten away with so many illegal things all series long that it's not fair they actually got called on one of them.

I couldn't believe that they actually finally called interference on Detroit yesterday. I thought for sure these refs were unfamiliar with that rule until then.

I like how in the in game interviews Pierre asks Babcock a question and Babcock says words to the effect that "I'm not seeing that at all, we need to ..., ie you're an idiot, Pierre"

Fun fact: I had to put my son to bed so when I left it was 1-0 and when I got back it was 2-2. The Hawks dominated the game while I was watching.

Bickell is making a case for a top 6 spot next season. He's certainly going to be making more money.

I'm curious to see what Babcokc tries this time. I'm guessing he goes back to the trap even though it stopped working in game 5. Anything can happen in a game 7. Hopefully, the better team wins.

It's a cliche, but the first ten minutes is going to be huge. If the Hawks come out flying and bury a chance or even two, it will open the game up. If it's scoreless, then yeah it's going to be a slog.

As for Babcock, he's clearly a brilliant hockey mind. And I like that when Pierre interviews him on the bench, he offers some insight and pointed comments rather than just stupid coachspeak. That's a guy comfortable in his position.

Was surprised to see Oduya was the icetime leader last night for the Hawks with 24 and change. Which is still amazing. A couple of years ago, my memory (which may or may not be good) is that 2 and 7 were playing 30 minutes every playoff game, or at least most. I see Rozsival out there sometimes in crunch time and just think damn, Q trusts this guy more than I do. If we do survive this and move on, Seabrook and Keith should be prepared and able to play heavy minutes going forward.

Oh, and no doubt thanks to this game, the "tomorrow night" song from the South park movie is stuck in my head. Thanks Hawks.

bickell has settled into that buff role. only he's a better skater and more skilled as a forward, and he's such a great villain. he's like a fast, offensively gifted ogre, love him. i'd prefer that they'd keep him over some of the other guys. he seems like a supporting-cast member but I have no doubt that he could be a star on that top line night after night. i'm sure toews wouldn't mind it, either.

which buff are you talking about, uninterested buff or beast mode buff? bickell, as impressive as he can be at times, is only better than one of those versions

260 lbs, coast to coast

i'm talking 2010 playoffs buff. quick hands, plant his ass in front of the goal and chop at the puck and you couldn't move him.

how i miss buff, we should have traded bolland instead, although i supported the move at the time.

i don't think bolland would have netted as much as byfuglien. plus we probably wouldn't have been able to re-sign him anyway

i dunno, Bolland had had a pretty fantastic post-season, everyone was calling him the rat and his work on thornton in the san jose series was spotlighted.

I just wish Hossa didn't take that dumb [expletive] penalty towards the end. Then we would have won by 2 goals and this crying over the penalty shot would have been even more pointless.

Also inexcusable was how Oduya didn't know it was even strength and iced the puck.
