I think this would have been a good year for the Hawks and their media to really push for Seabrook as a Norris candidate. Seabrooks lack of a top notch offensive game will make it hard for him to ever be a candidate. But this year the finalists are uninspiring. The Hawks are the best defensive team in the league and Seabrook is one of the best defensive players in the league. It would been a good year to push for him to win The Norris. A lot of hockey media guys may have run with it this year.

If you look at the official description of the Norris Trophy, it more or less says best offensive defenseman. You could make a better case for Leddy to win the Norris than Seabrook. Not that it matters though since Subban is basically a lock unless they decide that they want to placate the Wild by giving it to Suter.

edit: I forgot about that 2 goal game Seabrook had which actually gives him 2 more points than Leddy. Keith led all Hawks defenseman with 27 points 3G 24A.

Fun fact: the Hawks only hade 3 minus players among the regulars - Bolland -7, Brookbank -1 and Bollig -3. Mr. White was -3 in his one game.

leddy isn't very good offensively. it just seems that way because he can go coast-to-coast in like five strides and you're so in awe that you fail to process that he didn't do anything when he got past the blue line

part of the problem is our defensemen take such low-percentage shots. it's a disease. they rip wild slapshots into the shins of those hapless players who are hoping to actually do something useful

But Edzo says putting the puck on net is always a good play. :banghead:

I often wonder why the d men don't carry the puck another 8 feet into the zone (when they can) instead of shooting as soon as they reach the blueline. It's one thing when you're trying to dump and chase but that doesn't work if the goalie just catches it and either holds for the faceoff or dumps it to one of his d men

See, I wish I'd learned hockey when I was younger. Having only gotten into hockey at all in the last few years, I don't know when Edzo is giving me good hockey info or not.

They just said on whatever Versus is now that the Hawks are 28-0-4 in games that Patrick Sharp has played in this year.

Best thing about this series might be that Crawford has really been playing nicely, and has gotten better as the series has gone on.

How did Toews whiff on that?

I was hoping we'd get this to, like 5, so I could go to sleep. Stupid Minnesota goal that will probably end up meaning nothing.

it was seriously like we had no one on the ice for 5 minutes.

So I've been really enjoying having either a Bulls or Hawks playoff game every night. Assuming we don't choke in the 3rd it might be awhile before another Hawks game. Maybe not until mid week next week. By then the Bulls season will probably be over.
