Luke Weaver certainly not taking the next step this season:

@KendallRogersPG: . @FSU_Baseball RHP Luke Weaver sat 90-91 in the first, touching 92. Command of 80-82 CH iffy, but unscathed. #MLBDraft #noles

@KendallRogersPG: #FSU RHP Luke Weaver still not ultra crisp with FB dipping down to 88-90, but doing a fine job of keeping the ball low in zone. #MLBDraft

@jnorris427: Rodon punches out the side in the first. 92-95 heat. #MLBDraft

So with Hoffman injured and Aiken, Rodon, and Kolek all looking good, Jackson has to be the favorite right now at 1.4, right?

Not necessarily. Grant Holmes, Aaron Nola, Beede is still a possibility, wouldn't surprise me if a few other pitchers are in the mix too.

131 pitches for Rodon. Multiple guys on Twitter said that's the best he's been all season.

@KendallRogersPG: #TCU LHP Brandon Finnegan, I’m told, was taken out for precautionary reasons. Likely bursitis. Fully expected to return next week. #mlbdraft

Rodon you are not cooperating here. Edited by CubinNY

Kolek hit 100 multiple times last night and struck out 16. Jed Hoyer was present.

Due diligence and everything. But I don't think Kolek will be there. Who knows maybe our FO thinks they have a read on the teams above them. We should be scouting Nola, but I haven't heard one report any of our guys have been at his games, have you?

I'm sure he's been scouted. Have one of Wilken, McLeod, Theo, Jed, or Dorey been to see him? Hasn't been reported, but I'd certainly think so. We don't have reports on where these guys are for each and every outing. Just some recently, mostly Theo and Jed, at that.

There were rumors the Marlins wanted Kolek even before everyone was fapping over him. Not gonna be there.

I'm not earmarking anyone as unavailable at 4 until I hear bonus demands.

I think our pick is going to be determined by the Astros for the 3rd year in a row.

The Marlins historically dream big on high schoolers (specifically pitchers). The White Sox love guys who don't have to spend much time in the minors (especially pitchers). I know that Hahn drafted differently than Kenny last year, but I still think there is enough Kenny Williams influence in that draft room that a college pitcher will go #3.

So if the top 4 stays solid, we will pick whatever kind of pitcher the Astros don't pick. i.e if they pick Aiken, then we get Hoffman, if they pick Rodon, then we get Kolek (or Aiken if the Marlins like Kolek more). Although if they all stay solid, any one of those 4 is ok with me (although I like Kolek the least).

The White Sox have gone toolsy slow-moving position player two straight years with Courtney Hawkins (HS outfielder) the year before Hahn took over and Tim Anderson last year (JC SS). And while it's easy to assume the Marlins are locked in on prep guys like they have in past years, the Marlins have gone college two straight years with LHP Andrew Heaney (passing on prepsters like Addison Russell and Lucas Giolito) and 3B Colin Moran (passed on prep LHP Trey Ball).

Keith Law tried projecting the top 5 on Buster Olney's podcast last week:

1. Brady Aiken - clearly the best prospect in the draft per Law

2. Tyler Kolek - fits the Marlins m.o.

3. Jeff Hoffman - the White Sox avoid Boras clients (Rodon) and Hoffman fits the type of pitchers Don Cooper likes to work with

4. Carlos Rodon - could easily fall to 1.4 if he doesn't go 1.1 because of the Marlins and White Sox' draft tendencies

5. Erick Fedde or maybe Brad Zimmer
