Trade deadline may be extended, as the league offices are closed due to the weather.

Makes sense. I've always thought the NFL trade deadline should be maybe 2-3 weeks later than it is, say around week 11-12 to let teams better figure out what their chances are and/or for the top teams to add a guy if they lose someone to injury after the earlier trade deadline. Not that it really matters as trades rarely happen in NFL during the season and not a ton really happen during the offseason outside of draft day trades for mostly picks. But I'd still like to see it moved back a few weeks.

They did move it back two weeks this season. It's been in week 6 before. Now week 8.

We're halfway through the season after tonight.

As Hurricane sandy inches closer to land, the league office in Manhattan will be closed for a second straight day. The NFL’s headquarters will remain closed from Monday into Tuesday.

That development has prompted, as expected, a delay of the trade deadline, from Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. ET until Thursday at 4:00 p.m. ET.

Technicality, but we're through 8 weeks of a 17 week season.

I wasn't aware of this. I guess it's a step in the right direct. Still would like to see it be around week 11 or 12. They would have about 1/4 of the season left +/- depending on bye weeks after it passed.

That sound you hear is Andy Reid grasping at the last straw for his job

Yeah, well close enough.

Ugh...some speculation about Stephen Jackson and the Pats....

Schefter's report did not mention which teams were interested, but Chris Mortensen did mention that the Packers have tried to ply Jackson away from the Rams in the past. He went so far as to note that Packers GM Ted Thompson has long been a fan of Jackson, and to keep an eye on the team from Title Town.

Looks like pure speculation though.

I think Jackson would be an excellent addition to the Packers, I don't think he'd offer much more to the Pats than they already have other than giving them what their 3-4 man RB rotation gives them in one player and not having to constantly sub guys in out depending on the situation.

“It’s so close. We’re so encouraged by where we are and what we’ve done,” Carroll said. “Look at these games. After eight games — we could easily be 8-0. We could be 8-0 right now.

I give them credit for not being blown out in any of their games. But they still have a lot of difficulty winning away from home.

Bears get 'em at Soldier Field :)

Okay I thought I knew NFL rules fairly well. Watching the MNF game and twice now with about 3:00 left in the first half the Niners have gone out of bounds after catching passes. Clearly out. And after a reset the clock is wound. I thought the clock stopped in the last five minutes of each half. What am I missing?

I thought it was the last 2 minutes that the clock stopped.

That was my understanding of it as well

I don't know if its true or not but I feel like MNF matchups were much better pre-ESPN. For some reason when ESPN got the rights, it seems like Sunday Night Football has been given the higher priority with matchups.
