To go along with the Vitters stuff, I don't like how much playing time Castillo is getting.

I didn't even notice Castillo was out of the lineup again. What the [expletive]?

Not that worried about it, yet. Vitters especially is a guy that they seem to think responds well to being forced to work for everything he gets. Just like in Iowa to start the year when he was perpetually batting down in the lineup, then worked his way up to the middle.

See, Dale knows Vitters is here. #Cubs http://yfrog.com/oeavqvrjj

Boy, that picture screams one thing to me: "Work on your defense if you want to get into the lineup, kid."

What they are doing with Vitters makes 0 sense

I feel like Dusty is running the show again. "gotta earn his stripes before he plays more than once a week, dude."

They just said he's goibg to play everyday against Houston. If they make him work for PT a bit, I'm OK with it. They obviously have something they're doing with him. This isn't Quade and Hendry. Our FO knows it's a lost season and will make sure they get a solid look at him.

Actually, it makes plenty sense. The FO recognizes the flaws that guys like Jackson and Vitters have and see this season as basically like Rizzo last year; a chance to hopefully better identify what they need to work on so they have the bets chance to succeed. At the same time they're probably playing the game of trying not to completely crush these guys by throwing them out there every single game when they're likely to just fail. Try to focus on favorable matchups as much as possible and see if you can't both work on things and build their confidence. Just running them out there as much as possible isn't necessarily the best option; at some point it's just meatball-ish, "rub some dirt on it" garbage.

I mean, really, do you seriously think this FO is playing things like Hendry or Dusty?

Miguel Cairo at 1B?!? That's the best they can do as an injury replacement?

Well said and that does make sense.
