I simply don't agree. Soto should be given as much time to get out of his funk as needed as long as he's on the team. Castillo should be starting regularly wherever he is. I just don't agree with either using Castillo as a backup or an even platoon.

 

You know you can't do both of these things, right? Castillo is going to be here for 13 days. He can get the 10-15 at bats that Clevenger would have received otherwise. He'd get about 40 more at bats at Iowa during that time frame. Those 40 at bats are not worth screwing around with Soto, especially when the benefit of getting Soto right far exceed getting Castillo an extra week of playing time.

With Soto day to day it's a moot point. Castillo gets a good taste of the majors while Soto gets a needed rest then, presumably, Castillo gets a little rest before returning to Iowa.
