of course, he was pulled after three innings — don't know what's up with that.

He missed his last start with a blister and hadn't pitched in 11 days.

He was very effective today - 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K.

Trey Martin, Javier Baez and Dan Vogelbach hit doubles, Jeimer Candelario hit a triple and Xavier Batista hit a double and a HR. Tayler Scott didn't give up any earned runs in 3 IP and Jin-Young Kim had 2 scoreless and hitless innings.

Several pitchers who spent the 2011 season in the Dominican Summer League (DSL) made their U. S. game debut for the Cubs today, including 19-year old Mexican RHP Javier Castro, 19-year old Venezuelan soft-tossing LHP Augusto Colina, 6’6 20-year old Dominican RHP Jorge Diaz, and 21-year old Venezuelan RHP Loiger Padron. All of the new guys pitched OK, although Colina did give up a solo HR to the first man he faced (second pitch) in the bottom of the 4th.

Both Jensen and Francescon should be near to the 40 IP mark after their next two outings. While it would still be relatively early, assuming all goes well, I'd really like to see one, or both, get an early call up to A+ to see how they can handle it. I think there's more than enough guys that can be moved around to give Francescon or Jensen a look in A+, and 40 IP is a decent enough amount that I'd really like to see an early move.

I completely agree with you. I think it should be Francescon - he's 23 and he had 38.2 innings at Peoria last year too (admittedly as a reliever).
