Cubs recalled RHP Randy Wells from Triple-A Iowa.

As expected. Wells will get the ball Sunday in place of the injured Ryan Dempster. He takes the roster spot of Marlon Byrd, who has been traded to the Red Sox.

Dempster and Wood activated, Wells and Maine sent down.

Sucks for Maine, he couldn't have pitched any better.

Yeah he looked a lot better than last year. Still not sure what the Cubs see in Lendys Castillo.

They can't send Castillo down right now.

Maine was arguably the best reliever on the team during his time up, though.

I know they can't. I just don't see why they feel the need to stash him in the majors all year, as his stuff hasn't been very impressive.

He's really young, and a future asset. This year is lost anyway, so they can afford to stash a young gamble in the back of the bullpen for three months.
