Solid start to the Spring for Samardzija: 3 IP, 1 H 3K (35/26 pitches/strikes, 3/1 GO/FO). Lone baserunner was CS, so he faced the minimum.

Apparently threw mid 90's the entire time.

Niceeeeee

Very nice start for Shark. He's had some mediocre springs in past years, so a strong start would seem to bode well for him.

Shark has supposedly been preparing all offseason for this chance, so it looks like he's going to have to be taken seriously. In a perfect world, it'd be Maholm who missed the rotation, but if Shark continues at this pace, I guess Wood and Volstad better answer the bell too. For some reason, I've already penciled Wells into the long man role, even though I know he's got a shot as well.

However, if we've got a guy who could actually turn themselves into something more than a mid rotation guy, Shark has the best chance of anyone, followed by Volstad, in my opinion.

I forgot that Koyie Hill was with STL now. He saw his first spring action today, going 0-2 with an error.

Midseason form already.

Are Yuniesky Betancourt and Alcides Escobar both going to make the KC roster? Talk about offensive black holes...

In a perfect world, Maholm would certainly make the rotation as a successful Maholm should bring a nice prospect or two in a midseason trade.
