Don't let the lack of a national seed fool you. Most experts thought we deserved one. We lost our ace right before the Big 12 tournament, but we have 2 other very good pitchers (starters) left on our staff. When we are hitting well, we are damn tought to beat. Our problem has been inconsistent bats. We've been hitting pretty well lately, though. I look forward to the game Sunday night.

Frustrating loss last night. Put up a 4 spot in the top of the first and we gave it right back in the bottom of the inning. After that, both pitchers settled in and looked very good. I wish Stripling was able to go back out for the 9th. He may have been able to get us another at bat. But at 114 pitches, it was probably the right decision.

Well, they certainly have the starting pitching advantage over Cal tomorrow. I'm excited to see Waccha pitch. That said, I'm even more excited to see Virgina vs. South Carolina. And Vanderbilt-Florida tonight

Vandy vs. Florida on ESPN shortly - Grayson Garvin (Rays' sandwich pick this year) vs Karsten Whitson (9th pick overall in 2010; probably the current leading candidate to be the #1 pick in 2013).

The Vandy-Florida game was postponed in the 6th inning by inclement weather. It was kind of creepy when the teams kept playing despite the tornado sirens blaring. Here's a pic of the storm rolling through:

I can stand for typhoons and earthquakes even, but tornadoes, scare the bejeesus outta me.

yes, excellent matchups.

WAY too much foul ground in this new stadium. They could make a ton of money by adding seats closer to the action. Very strange that they would make that change.

Well at least Texas A&M is out.

Fixed it

Hey, we lasted longer than Texas. ;)

Yeah I wish one of us could have gotten at least one win, sadly what I expected to happen came true.

My Aggies are back in Omaha for the first time since 1999. It's been way too long.

Hey curious what you (or anyone else) think about Matt Juengel's pro prospects.

I think the consensus is that he has the bat to go far, but he has no defensive position. He's been tried a few places with poor results. If he can figure out a place to not kill his team on the field he may be a big leaguer some day.

That's about what I imagined. Probably the same story as many collegiate DHs.

Curious if you've ever met the kid. Reason I ask is, Matt is coming to Madison to play summer ball, and will be staying at my house while he's here. I've only spoken with him a few times over the phone but he seems like a real nice kid. We're excited for him to get here.

Florida wins and advances to the CWS final.

South Carolina and Virginia are tied in the 13th. If South Carolina wins, they advance. Virginia's closer, Branden Kline, has thrown over 100 pitches and South Carolina's closer, Matt Price, is over 90. This after Danny Hultzen started, went 3 dominant innings and struck out 8 but was pulled because he's flu-stricken and was puking between innings.

Great game 1 so far. Florida just inches away from winning on several occasions. SC has been clutch on the field though.

SC's been more like incredible in the field. Three game-saving putouts at the plate, all spectacular.

Then FLA gives away a run with a double-error.

Thank God the Cubs didn't draft Matt Price. And people rail on UCLA for the way they handled Bauer and Cole the last few years.
