So to sum it all up, our top prospect forgot how to hit. Our #2 prospect is nursing an unknown injury, and another top 10 guy who was cruising his way into the top 5 will probably be out of action until 2013, late 2012 at the earliest. Oh, and the big league club sucks.

forgot how to hit? he has an .852 ops in AA at age 22. i know you like to bandwagon onto players who are having a good two weeks but i didn't know you threw in the towel on guys who suffered an injury and slump for like 5 games after coming back.

Towel thrown in? Not at all, however, he had been in a bit of a free fall well before the injury. It wasn't long ago at all that he was hitting in the mid .300s and OPSing in the high .900s.

McNutt has bruised ribs. Could have been a lot worse, imo.

(McNutt) had to leave the game because of soreness in his ribs. McNutt apparently bruised his rib cage in a collision five days ago and tried to pitch through the injury. He will miss his next start, and there is no timetable for his return."

Cubs will rush him back before he's fully healed. He will alter his mechanics to compensate for the pain and tear his labrum. Hendry will shrug his shoulders. Book it.

While you have your crystal ball out, what happens to the rest of our prospects? When do we win the World Series?

Our farm system is looking pretty damn rough right now. I'm really hoping the Cubs go all drunk guy on eBay at the draft, otherwise the farm system is going to be in rough shape come the offseason.

that blows. Whitenack was starting to look like a really interesting prospect. Its strange he only had that one bad start right? Either he was pitching through the pain or it just snuck up on him.

A sudden increase in velocity for a prospect is often followed by injury as their bodies aren't accustomed to the additional strain.

Whitenack's calling card has always been his curve ball, so he was always going to be at a higher risk for TJS. Better now than when he was closer to the big leagues, I guess.
