Hey, Commish

It appears Gutherie pitched in a non-start situation and picked up 4.5 points. Apparently his start was rained out, so he made a brief relief appearance.

Should that be allowed? Should Gutherie be charged with a start, or more likely should the 4.5 points be taken from Sock-it-Thome's score? I thought relievers could only get points from relieving and starters only from starting.

???

The scoring system probably isn't smart enough to decipher whether starting pitchers are accumulating relief points or starting points, and most leagues would probably allow points like that regardless of where they came from. I'll remove the points.

We had the same issue in my other league. We removed the points as well.

Did your other league fold? You seem to be speaking in past tense.

That's because I removed the points yesterday.

The league has flourished since you "left".

Thanks for the heads-up related to Guthrie's relief appearance. Luckily, this was a week where my starters had 8 among them at the beginning of the week, so should still be able to get my 7 starts in. Have adjusted my pitching accordingly and will be thankful that I'll still get all my starts in.

Happy Friday!

ps - Al, watch out...5 starts in the next 2 days! I'm coming for ya :)

I believe the door hit me on the way out.

Hopefully you will be nice to me and have a couple of negative starts in order to give me a chance. :good:

I'll try to keep up with anything happening that needs to be fixed, but if Tim is around, he might need to step in on occasion. This next month is my hell month, starting this past week. It's already hard to get everything accomplished, but we are dealing with new system software and a new web site all at the same time, and there are bugs-o-rama.

Happy to oblige...Marquis looked like Marquis tonight. He actually would have won, despite 5 earned, except he couldn't make it a full 5 innings. Bah humbug. Oh, and Sam Fuld has 7 on my bench, vs freaking Ryan Howard with 2.5. Start hitting, for goodness sake!

Just post here who it is and Brian or Tim can create a dummy player as a placeholder until the real player is added to the database.

And to be clear, the added name is only a placeholder. If the player gets promoted, you will not be able to use the placeholder player to accumulate points. The real player will need to be added to the database.

CBS is pretty good about adding players. When the real one gets added, simply drop the placeholder. It's also a good idea to make a note of what you are doing to the rest of the league.

I've been asked about trading Lincecum. Since I'm going nowhere fast I don't consider him untouchable. I'd be looking for a TOP prospect or exempt player and a draft pick (or both prospect and exempt player without draft pick). Let me know if interested.

I'm glad I can say I cost my team the win this week and not crappy as play. Well at least Tim went down too.

And Utley returns this week :-)

I have now already matched my 2010 win total! :yahoo:

Good week. I had another solid week, but needed more from my rotation.

My team has given up nearly 150 more pts than any other team thus far. The defense needs to improve. I'm not sure the same intangibles are there this year relative to last years title run...

They probably aren't hungry this year after winning the championship.
