every team has 7 games this week, so there should be a lot of scoring.

great start to my week, as sizemore is off to the DL, chipper may need surgery and wright has a broken back. broken backs aren't really a big deal, right?

No. Probably doesn't even need the DL for that. Day to day.

Chapman went to the DL so he is replaced by Salas.

Lind went to the DL, so he is replaced by Brantley. Sands was playing for Lind (who was day-to-day), so I benched Sands and inserted Brantley. I hope this move is OK.

Last season at this point I had the worst record in the league but was 3rd in scoring. This season I am tied for best record in the league but 14th in scoring.

I'm going to have to do some pitching staff juggling this week. I've got a couple unfavorable matchups and I expect will need 6-7 good starts to win.

Meanwhile, I'll take this opportunity to pat myself on the back for picking up Matt Joyce 3-4 weeks ago when Delmon Young went out and now Joyce is a Top 15 OFer.

Who else has made a waiver / FA pick that has been huge for their team this year ?

My best waiver wire pickups have been Alex Avila (2nd highest scoring catcher) and Ryan Madson. Jed Lowrie hasn't been too bad either replacing the awful Aaron Hill at 2B.

I had Avila one week (of course his bad week) and dropped him.

Barney has been a nice, if not spectatular, pick up at SS.

Too small of a sample size to be meaningful yet, but Josh Collmenter could be a nice pickup. In 20 innings (7 relief appearances plus his first start) he has a 0.90 ERA, 0.55 WHIP, 14 Ks, and only 1 BB. I figured he was worth a flier when I decided it was finally time to give up on Vazquez. And he has all three exemptions remaining.

i picked up ogando before he was good, so i think i get extra credit for that.

Yeah, I happened to notice Ogando had back to back amazing outings and went on the prowl to add him to my roster and was surprised that someone already had him. Thought for sure I was the only one paying attention at that point.

Picked up Tim Wheeler this morning to fill one of my 2 spots in the minors. He has been available for 2 years before today.

that's a good add, i was watching him in case one of my minor leaguers suffered an injury or slumped badly.

as you might imagine i'm paying more attention to my minor leaguers than i am to my big league players at this point, since i have already waved the white flag.

in related news, make me trade offers people.

In three days this week I have already scored more points than I did all of last week. That's even with a 35 point start from De La Rosa on my bench.

second most points in the entire league and i'm tied for next to last in my division and 2 games out of a playoff spot. sweet.

Six more shutout innings in his second major league start. That's 12 innings with a 0.00 ERA as a starter. He's outscored my other four starts combined.

Hey, Commish

It appears Gutherie pitched in a non-start situation and picked up 4.5 points. Apparently his start was rained out, so he made a brief relief appearance.

Should that be allowed? Should Gutherie be charged with a start, or more likely should the 4.5 points be taken from Sock-it-Thome's score? I thought relievers could only get points from relieving and starters only from starting.

The scoring system probably isn't smart enough to decipher whether starting pitchers are accumulating relief points or starting points, and most leagues would probably allow points like that regardless of where they came from. I'll remove the points.

We had the same issue in my other league. We removed the points as well.
