Both had 1:35 start times, so now we have another new issue. Do we take the game that finished first or last? Boston always plays slow.

I say in this instance you get rid of the higher point start. Finishing time shouldn't have anything to do with it.

The Washington game went 6 minutes longer than the Seattle game.

Why would how long it takes to finish the game matter? Start time I can totally see, finishing time, I don't understand why it'd matter really.

Actually, I just went in and read the rules as they were written by Juan. If you have multiple starts at the same time, the highest total will be removed.

Cool, I was trying to find it but didn't see it. Bye bye King Felix's start.

I know in the past you haven't been able to make a midweek pickup to get a 7th start (except for injuries, etc.); I tried to promote Norris from my minor league roster to get my 7th start a couple years ago and it was ruled invalid (not that it really made a difference because he put up negative points anyway). I think it should be allowed, however, as long as the total roster size stays legal. As far as extra starts are concerned I agree with dropping the highest score. It would make it easier because start time wouldn't matter and we wouldn't have to deep track of whether it's somebody's first offense or not.

zobrist had 30+ points that day because they played a DH.

shouldn't effect the matchup, but i don't see how rodelo was able to pick up nova and morton midweek and have them make starts for him today. it doesn't look like they were replacing guys who were hurt.

Oh, so Zobrist had more points in one day than Carlos Pena and Ian Stewart have all year, combined.

You can pick up pitchers in order to get 7 starts for the week. Did he already have at least 7 starts with the pitchers he had, or did he pick them up so that he would be able to get his 7?

i don't know, but that has never been the rule as far as i've understood it. ***lineups are to be set on monday.*** you cannot pick up free agents (pitcher or position player) mid-week unless there is an injury.

Not only do I seem to recall that people have picked up people mid week for quite some time to get their 7 starts, I really don't feel like arguing against someone being able to get their 7th start.

It would probably be a better idea to see ahead of time that you will need another pitcher to get that 7th start, but sometimes weather plays a part in why someone might not get that 7th start, therefore a later in the week desperation pick up might be necessary to get that 7th start. I'm not sure how others feel about this, but my personal feelings are:

I don't care what one has to do to get 7 starts, but I'm all for whatever must be done to get you your weekly 7 starts since 7 is all you are supposed to get. And since a last minute desperation pick up to get a 7th start could mean 40 points or -40 points and a significant potential of lost points by not having the chance to get a 7th start at all, I'm okay with that addition. Especially considering the gamble that is being taken by adding someone that most people don't want anyway.

Anyone else care to offer up their 2 bits?

When Buccholz was listed yesterday as he was going to miss his 2nd start this week, I wanted to pick someone up, but didn't because I didn't think I could. I'd be all for doing whatever you have to do to get your seven for the week though, as it would still be fair. In my case, I'd have had to drop someone to get it, so there is a negative with doing that. If you want the 7th start though, it may be worth having to drop someone to get it. I'd have certainly done it if I was allowed. To top it off with Weaver getting scratched today, I wish I could have picked someone up. Glad it didn't cost me this week. I say let people pick up starters mid week due to scratches or rainouts to get 7.

Agreed. If Tim had made his "trade for my pitchers" post yesterday, you technically could have swapped out some players with him and taken on someone who still might have had starts left for Sunday. Do we want to say you can't trade for a starter who has starts remaining, too? Because I don't see how you can allow trades with pitching starts remaining for the week if another guy can't pick up a free agent with a pitching start remaining in the week.

Best case scenario to me is just let people have their 7 starts, even if it means having to pick someone up to do it. As long as they maintain a legal roster, I'm fine with it.

Extra starts has it's own sticky page and it's the first one listed.

Juan had his list of things that he liked to be a Nazi about, and I have my list of things that I like being a Nazi about. I typically only like being a Nazi towards things that might affect me. :yahoo:

Later this year when Tim adds James Russell to get his 7th start and he throws a 1 hitter against the Reds in a meaningless game outside of our fantasy world, but knocks me out of the playoffs by a point or two, I might have a change of heart on the 7 start rule. :good:

I've had a rather strange feeling this week. It's called "winning." I think I could get used to it. :D

It looks like I am about to win this week too. After two rather dismal weeks, my team is showing signs of coming to life.

Like it mattered the way the rest of my team played.

Sorry about the extra start. I knew on Thursday I was going to have to bench a SP in order to keep under 7 for the week and I was going to do that Sunday morning (I didn't want to have an illegal starting lineup for 4 days) but our internet was out all weekend and never had the chance to change it.
