great start to the week, as i had kennedy's cg/so on the bench.

that makes SIX 25+ point starts i've had on my bench through 3 weeks and 1 day. i have enjoyed a -31 start and -27 start, so that's something.

Seems you need to re-evaluate your team manager.

No [expletive], no bitching about Quade leaving Aramis on the bench from you!

my lineup gets even more embarrassing as pablo sandoval is put on the DL and i replace him with mike aviles.

I've had to deal with Theriot's .300/.360/.400 playing third base for me and Neifi's .230/.290/.315 starting at first base for me the entire year.

Oh wait, that's Aramis and Morneau. One HR combined between the two of them for the season. Add in the expected pathetic offense from Escobar and you've got why my offense has struggled so far this year. Aviles has probably outscored all three.

At least I get Greinke back next week.

My starting 3b and 1b for the year have a combined total of 24.5 points on the year. Neither has been on the DL, although one has been sent to the minors and the other one should join him.

Over 100 at bats. How many points did Zobrist get in just one game?

zobrist had 30+ points that day because they played a DH.

shouldn't effect the matchup, but i don't see how rodelo was able to pick up nova and morton midweek and have them make starts for him today. it doesn't look like they were replacing guys who were hurt.

Oh, so Zobrist had more points in one day than Carlos Pena and Ian Stewart have all year, combined.

You can pick up pitchers in order to get 7 starts for the week. Did he already have at least 7 starts with the pitchers he had, or did he pick them up so that he would be able to get his 7?

i don't know, but that has never been the rule as far as i've understood it. ***lineups are to be set on monday.*** you cannot pick up free agents (pitcher or position player) mid-week unless there is an injury.

Clint went to 8 starts this week. I say we get rid of King Felix's start. Going over gets rid of the highest start right?

that's what it should be, but i think the rule is to eliminate the one that occurs last (for the first offense). go over more than once, and we eliminate the highest one.

Not only do I seem to recall that people have picked up people mid week for quite some time to get their 7 starts, I really don't feel like arguing against someone being able to get their 7th start.

It would probably be a better idea to see ahead of time that you will need another pitcher to get that 7th start, but sometimes weather plays a part in why someone might not get that 7th start, therefore a later in the week desperation pick up might be necessary to get that 7th start. I'm not sure how others feel about this, but my personal feelings are:

I don't care what one has to do to get 7 starts, but I'm all for whatever must be done to get you your weekly 7 starts since 7 is all you are supposed to get. And since a last minute desperation pick up to get a 7th start could mean 40 points or -40 points and a significant potential of lost points by not having the chance to get a 7th start at all, I'm okay with that addition. Especially considering the gamble that is being taken by adding someone that most people don't want anyway.

Anyone else care to offer up their 2 bits?

Adam is correct. Although I'm not a fan of this method, either. First off, I have to now hunt through the schedule to see who played first. Games that haven't played yet are much easier to determine who plays first than games that have already been played.

I shouldn't have to do that much work. I'd like it to be that we take away the last start, but where 2 starters went on the same day that the infraction occurred, the start with the most points will be removed. That way I can simply look at the two pitchers for that day and remove the best one. Easily fixed.

I think the letter of the rule says that you can't pick up a starter mid-week to fill out your seven starts. I think that this has happened in practice for a while, though, and I don't really feel it goes against the spirit of the law.

When Buccholz was listed yesterday as he was going to miss his 2nd start this week, I wanted to pick someone up, but didn't because I didn't think I could. I'd be all for doing whatever you have to do to get your seven for the week though, as it would still be fair. In my case, I'd have had to drop someone to get it, so there is a negative with doing that. If you want the 7th start though, it may be worth having to drop someone to get it. I'd have certainly done it if I was allowed. To top it off with Weaver getting scratched today, I wish I could have picked someone up. Glad it didn't cost me this week. I say let people pick up starters mid week due to scratches or rainouts to get 7.
