give me a break. as it works out he gave up kipnis, shelby miller, jake turner and brian matusz for michael choice and matt harvey. choice has certainly improved his standing as a prospect and matusz was a horrific disappointment last year, but kipnis appears to be a good offensive 2b and would've been a good replacement for cano, and miller is one of the top 10 prospects in baseball. turner is probably top 25. considering that i wasn't going anywhere last year, my team has certainly improved with the trade.

but maybe you should badger the commissioner about it until he gets fed up and quits.

You don't believe in trading first round picks. Give it back.

if we're going to have this stupid rule, i'm not going to sit back and let you have all the first round picks.

I think I've figured it out on my own, but does the commish or anyone keep track of the draft pick trades and make a final list before the draft? I assume we'd all do that ourselves also as a check, but wanted to know if they'll be an "official" order.

When the draft board gets set up, we execute the trades at that time so that the correct teams pick where they are supposed to.

Good summary.

Sorry if I missed this rule Q, but trades after the roster lock don't have to stay under the 2000 cap, is that right? So trading a draft pick for a player after the lock (Feb 14, most years), e.g., doesn't change the point total for any team.

If I have that wrong, when does the cap go away? After the draft? During the draft?

I can't imagine that you can go over the 2000 point/10 major league keeper rule just because the keeper deadline has passed. I assume that you have to be at or below 2000 points/10 keepers when the draft starts. I'm not sure what the rules are during the draft, but I'd assume that you can't, say, deal a couple of first round picks for Roy Halladay one minute after the draft starts. Probably just draft pick trades are allowed during the draft.

I thought for sure I explained this in one of the PM's I sent you, where I mentioned that teams cannot be over 2000 points between the deadline and the draft and points cannot be traded. Players who do not compromise the cap can probably still be traded during this time, however.

When the draft starts, the cap is no longer in effect, thus the trading of players would be allowed. Teams that are not legal are not allowed to make trades, however. Being legal meaning that you do not have more rostered players than you are allowed. We do allow the drafting of more than the allowed amount due to potential DL players, players sent to the minors, etc....

Does the draft room automatically make the changes in the ML draft order?

It should.

Go to the trade page and see what it lists for you.
