Thome Cubs in discussions?

Can Pena play any other position? Maybe RF or LF to get Thome an occasional start. Not saying this is a good idea, just wondering why we would even bother talking to Thome.

I do not think Pena can realistically play anywhere else. But he is also not much of a threat to start 162 games at 1B. He's never played 150. He's also not that extreme of a LHP/RHP hitter, while Thomas has been a RHP killer. My guess is you could get Thome 10-15 starts at 1B, another few DH starts, but mainly use him as a PH threat. I would use him as the first guy off the bench every game, almost regardless of situation. Even if you just force the opposing manager to burn through his loogy it can help.
