Really? I'd be relieved if he remained that competent, given his age (and his lack of patience). I'm worried that he's going to flat out suck.

I was looking at the Cubs roster on MLB.com, and just out of curiosity, who the hell is this guy?

He looks like organizational filler. He's been in professional baseball since 1999 (supplemental 1st round pick for the Orioles that year) and has never made it to the majors. He spent this past year in the Rockies' system, so I'm guessing he was signed as a minor league free agent.

Very slight Bruce Miles update on Guzman:

 

They're not counting on him at all. They can't. They're going to see how he progresses in spring training, but they aren't going to rush it.

So? That point doesn't seem to be in contention.

For me, at best I'm thinking .320/.375/.440 for Castro this coming season... At worst is what he did last year .300/.347/.408. What I'm guessing he'll do??? .309/.361/.423... Just a little improvement across the board, but he could have a sophmore slump and do worse than what he did last year... He's too good of a contact hitter IMO for his slump to last long enough to drag his numbers down.
